we stayed one night on our bicycle trip (part of the "North Sea Cycling Route"). We got a warm welcome by Richard on a rainy afternoon. The room was absolutely marvelous and well equipped; Bicycles can safely be stored in the backyard.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at White Linen and our best experience so far. Our room was very clean and beautifully appointed. Breakfast was freshly cooked using local ingredients and was very tasty. Guests are made to feel welcome and I cannot speak highly enough about Richard and Heidi, the owners, whose good taste and attention to detail have elevated the White Linen into accommodation which is more like a boutique hotel. The location is perfect too. A two minute stroll from the town centre.

The reviewer below me (Michelle) suggested to my friends that they buy me & my new husband a nights stay at The White Linen Guest House, as she had a great time there previously.
We LOVED the room it was beautifully decorated, very nice bathroom and even our own robes!! The bed was so good we considered staying in for the night!
Heidi greeted us and was very warm and friendly, and the breakfast was great - that room is also done out immaculately!
I would recommend this Guest House time & time again - we hope to stay here in the future.

We stayed 2 nights in the Havana room, and were v pleased with more or less everything about the B&B. It's in a lovely old house, about 2 minutes walk from the harbour or station, very centrally located and easy to walk everywhere. Breakfast was brilliant, delicious, fresh and plentiful - you won't need lunch if you're staying here. Although it faces onto a main road, there wasn't a problem with traffic noise as the front garden is long - squawking gulls and cooing pigeons were noisier. I'd happily stay here again, tho the bed was a bit soft for my personal preference.

The only negative issue was parking; on arrival there wasn't a space free in the back road behind and we had a minor altercation with a local resident tho Richard said there was an agreement with the owner of the garage that it was OK to stop there while dropping bags off. But when we went back, having dropped the bags off, there was a space free so parking wasn't in the end a problem. I suspect that anywhere central in Whitby has the same issues.

Had the best fish and chips ever at The Magpie Cafe, a good meal at the Horse and Griffin, and a not so good one at Green's.

Chosen online due to its upmarket feel which didnt disappoint on arrival. Well worth the supplement of c.£20-30/nt over other what appeared far inferior other places.

We stayed in the 'shaker' room which was infact better than the photos ! Ian helped us with the heavy luggage and Heidi is officially the happiest morning person in the world.

Breakfast was without doubt better than i have had in many a 5* around the world and if it were possible to give 6 *'s for Breakfast i would. As a big eater there was more than enough to fill me up till tea-time (a 1st my wife kept telling me) and if that wasnt enough, Heidi even offered me a 2nd cooked breakfast if i wanted one.

Overall a wonderful find, although i have to knock off 1 * and rate at 4 for the poor parking & access. Dont let this put you off this particular place, its the same all over Whitby and every B&B suffers from it.

The Hotel is currently up for sale and i do hope that whoever takes it over does keep up the high standard at a fair price. In the mean time, book this while you can, there is a reason their occupancy rate is so high......

Room Tip: If your going in a heat wave, the front garden rooms do have traffic noise and there is no air-con

This is our second time of staying at white linen and we loved it just as much. we booked one night and got upgraded again to the havana room which is a fabulous four poster room definatly worth every penny if you are paying and not lucky enough to have our good fortune of an upgrade. The owners are always really lovely and helpful. The breakfast is great and none of the usual rubbery stuff you get in other b&bs. we love the location managed to get parking on the back road both times no problem and its very central perfect for strolling around whitby.
I would always return here when staying in whitby its perfect.
