Whitby is one of our favourite "bolt holes" and we stayed at the Stables having read an article in the Yorkshire Post paper. We were not disappointed. We had originally booked to go in January but that trip was snowed off so this was the rearranged visit. We stayed one night and had the lamb shank from the menu which was very good. Breakfast the next day was also good - it would take a few trips up the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey to work off the calories. The next time we visit we may try a different room to see how it compares to the one we stayed in.
