“Perfect weekend.”
Reviewed April 2, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

4 of us and a dog stayed here and had a fantastic weekend. Everything you would need in the cottage was provided, cosy and warm with a nice view of the river. Walk into Whitby was about 20 mins ( once you get up the hill that is ). A bit steep but not too bad. Would certainly stay here again no problem.. Ann, Jerry, Caroline, Kevin and Kiyo the dog.

“Lovely Cottage”
Reviewed March 15, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

I stayed at Kauri with my sister, her husband, their two year old and my jack russell terrier! The cottage worked for all or our needs. The location is really excellent, an easy walk down the cinder track into Whitby centre and next to a beautiful viaduct over the river. The cottage itself was warm and welcoming and very well appointed with everything we needed for our short stay although we would have been fine if we had been stopping for longer. We couldn't believe how many glasses there were! The communication from Julie and Martin was excellent and although there were no problems during our stay I felt confident that they would have been happy to help if it had been needed. The only downside for us was watching a boisterous two year old over three floors but we knew that this was the case before we booked. Overall we would be happy to return to Kauri another time. I would definitely recommend it.

Many thanks for your review - the glasses do seem to accumulate over time but rather too many than not enough we always think !!

I can appreciate that boisterous children and three floors can be a little noisy but as you say all was well and you have enjoyed your stay.

We hope to be able to welcome you back to the cottage in the future.

Kind regards - Martin and Julie

“Absolutely Lovely”
Reviewed March 2, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

I stayed at Kauri Cottage this weekend with my 7 other friends for my birthday and it was absolutely beautiful! The surroundings were stunning, it is right under the viaduct next to the river with lovely views. Although it is a 30 minute walk into whitby, this worked for us as it was close enough to walk but far away enough to feel out of it and relaxed away from the madness! The cottage was brilliant. Despite there being 8 of us and being warned that it may be a bit cramped, we found that there was plenty of room for us and everyone had a bed! The cottage is beautifully furnished and decorated and just an all round beautiful place. We took full advantage of the balcony and its views every morning with our morning cuppa, and I have honestly never felt so peaceful! The weekend was absolutely brilliant and none of us wanted to leave! Everyone around us was so friendly, from Martin and Julie and the neighbours, to the residence of Whitby. It is all round just a lovely place and we can't thank Martin and Julie enough for allowing us to stay and trusting us with us being a large group of teenagers! Hopefully, we will be returning in September for another stay!

“Third year at Kauri. Excellent!”
Reviewed January 9, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

A group of 6 of us stayed here again for the New Year festivities - our third New Year running. Absolutely lovely accommodation. Everything you could ever want is provided. Furnishings, bedding, accessories, kitchen appliances - everything is perfect. The house is so fab we didn't bother going out at night - even on New Year's Eve! It's very warm and cosy - we didn't have the heating on in the bedrooms and it was turned down to almost off in the rest of the accommodation. Wifi is provided now so that's just about everything covered! And there are 3 toilets! Only one drawback - there's no shower in the second floor bathroom so it was a bit busy in the first floor bathroom in the mornings but that's not a big deal - we managed fine. A brisk walk into Whitby takes only 20 minutes, and there's a lovely pub in nearby Ruswarp (The Bridge Inn) which serves great food! We've already booked into Kauri for New Year 2015 as we enjoy it so much! Highly recommended!!

Delighted you are returning to us for the fourth year running - that must mean we are doing something right !!

We are currently refurbishing the cottage for the forthcoming season and bringing the cottage back up to standard after a busy 2014, and we look forward to welcoming you back towards the end of the year.

“Absolutely Perfect!”
Reviewed January 5, 2015 for a stay in January 2015

Stayed for a weekend on Friday 2nd January. The cottage was lovely and warm on arrival with complimentary coffee, tea, milk and sugar. There were 2 adults and 3 children and the cottage was very spacious and room layout was thoughtful. Parking was never an issue and very close to cottage which made loading and unloading the car very easy. There is a small playground for children which you are able to supervise from the cottage. I immediately felt at home in this cottage and never found it lacking. Would love to return in warmer weather. Should also mention that Martin & Julie are very friendly and helpful.

Many thanks Christine for your kind review which is much appreciated.

The cottage we feel is a great location for kids to be safe and secure but yet enough space for them to let off steam, and we all know if the kids are happy then that makes for a better time for the Mums and Dads !!

We look forward to welcoming you to the cottage again in the warmer weather.

Kind regards - Martin and Julie

“Enjoyable stay”
Reviewed November 24, 2014 for a stay in November 2014

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay in Kauri Cottage. The views were lovely from the cottage itself sat right beneath a viaduct and the river flowing by the side very scenic. There were 6 adults and a young child and we all had plenty of room to move round within the cottage and ample room for sleeping.

I would recommend a stay at this place and as a family, we would like to return here in the summer months as it was abit overcast and Chilly with being Novemeber! It is a close walk into Whitby about 20 minutes and the views from the viaduct are lovely. We hardly used our car whilst staying there because of the good locality of the cottage. It was nice and quiet throughout our stay and we did not see many other people whilst we were there.

Many thanks for taking the time to post a review.

We too think the views and the location are amazing and the added bonus of the viaduct does make it something special.

We are delighted you were happy with our cottage and that you are looking to return.

We look forward to welcoming you again in the summer months.

Thanks and regards - Martin and Julie

We stayed for a long weekend October 2014 4 adults , 3 kids & a dog, on arrival the cottage was warm and welcoming, with every kitchen appliance you could possibly need, comfortable lounge and 3 bedrooms, and an additional sofa bed in the lounge. A great quiet base within easy reach of the centre of Whitby . There was plenty of room and everywhere was so clean and fresh, the owners really have thought of everything, and the Wi-fi was popular with the kids! We will 100% be back! thanks for a great stay

We look forward to welcoming you back to our cottage in the future.
