“too many stairs & very drafty in kitchen + awful utensils - no comfortable places to sit & awkward dutch barn doors”

Dog food under furniture + doggy hair!? Terrible shoddy kitchenware worse than I would camp with & dangerous frying pan like tin can buckled when heated - worse was the toxic glade/fabreeze puffed out in bed/rm & LR the smell had impregnated the cheap linens like high school hallway - the saving grace was the lovely ducks & the tranquil river esk surroundingsPS Tried to use put U up but digustingly dirty with hairs all over & parts disintigrating even a darned area to a duvey cover = they are about 5 quid in Argos or a charity shop??!!

How easy was it to book the property? How helpful were the directions to the property?
How easy was key pickup/access to the property? Overall condition of the property
Bedding & mattresses Kitchen & utensils
Bathroom cleanliness Service
Liked best: environment & surroundings outside
Liked least: all of the interior especially bedroom & kitchen - the bedroom made me sick because of stinking cheap perfume which was toxic instead of opening a window they had gone overboard with the fake smells

Management Response
Jun 14, 2013
I am surprised to say the least by this review, especially as these comments are not reflected in our visitor's book by this same customer, who in fact left a favourable report. I challenge anyone to view the visitor's book, which contains two years of complementary reviews. On this site our previous reviews have all been 5 star. Prior to this customer's arrival double glazing was installed throughout the property so I would not expect to find any drafts. The doors are a traditional solid wood cottage style, and we clearly advertise that the accommodation is set on 3 floors, and hence has the corresponding number of stairs. We pride ourselves on our cleaning standards and are disappointed at this customer's comments.

“Lovely place to stay for relaxing break”

Myself my daughter and my 4 year old grandson stayed in the cottage from 7th - 10th May. Delightful little house, beautifully clean & very well equipped, the view from every window is over the river and the steam train line, we were like the railway children waving every time a train went past. Owner very helpful, booking was so easy and they even text to say the house was ready & we could have it early.

We had a lovely weather which made the trip even better.

Just for information the walk from the cottage to Whitby is lovely but maybe just a little bit too far for a little one to do both ways.
