“Time to Chill”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2013

We arrived to a warm welcome and show to a very pleasant clean room and en-suite, we dropped our bags and made immediately for the SPA. This was also extremely pleasant and clean, and being as we were there early afternoon we had it to ourselves. We relaxed in the pool, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi and had a lovely afternoon. Our table reservation was for 7.30 however we went to the poachers bar earlier for a drink. We picked our seats and the very attentive bar staff inquired after drinks and if we were dining, drinks were served and menu's provided. We were stopping on a bed, breakfast and evening meal combination however we decided to have one or two items from the menu as a whole rather than the set menu. The wine for our main course was a little pricey however that was our choice and there were other wines at lower prices. The starter of mackerel for me and belly pork for my wife were nice and were washed down with glass of Chablis. Our main courses arrived, Steak Frites for my wife and the fillet steak for myself. Although both were extremely tasty they were not generous by any stretch of the imagination with my fillet resembling a large postage stamp however the sauce and accompaniments were delicious but £35 I was a little disappointed. We then moved to the bar and once again all the staff were excellent. The next morning the breakfast certainly didn't disappoint, lots of choice and everything was tasty..........All in all this was a nice break, good facilities and we enjoyed our time but weren't blown away.....

Room Tip: Book you room then phone ahead to reserve a garden view

Just returned from a 2 night stay at this lovely hotel. A real retreat just outside Whitby. Excellent staff and accommodation. The hotel has a very pleasant bar and restaurant. Top end price for the area but worth it for that little bit extra.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the gardens

I was really looking forward to our three day stay at Raithwaite Hall for my 60th Birthday. We arrived to a warm welcome from Tom and shown to our suite. Everything was loverly and fresh and set in what will be wonderful grounds once the building works are completed. The bedding was 1st class and we had a good nights sleep. The next day we had a buffet breakfast, which is on of the best that I have had and on the evening we had an evening meal, which unfortunately was only average and being sat at a table that was rocking was annoying. The next morning we went in the spa which again is wonderful and being midweek was very quite. Everything could have been so much better if our room had been cleaned properly. When we arrived there was a crisp packet behind my bedside table and when we left three days later it was still there. It was two days before we had soap in our room and our rubbish bin was only emptied once during our whole stay, there was also a champagne bucket on our balcony when we arrived and it was still there when we left (room 402). So although things were good, with better trained staff it could have been really special. I did mention the problems we occurred when we left and we received an apology.

We visited the hotel for the third time recently for a birthday weekend, taking 2 other family members with us, it was their first visits. We all had a wonderful relaxing weekend and whilst we've already booked our 4th visit, they are planning their second. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and the staff are friendly, professional and helpful. They were also clearly happy in their work, which makes a huge difference from many even more expensive hotels.

Just got back from a weekend break at Raithwaite Hall with my girlfriend. We chose it because of a friend's recommendation and we were not disappointed. The place is spotless and all the staff were friendly and attentive, especially in the restaurant. The bedroom we had was spacious and luxurious and could not be faulted. I would highly recommend a stay there if you want some peace and quiet in lovely surroundings.

I visit a friend in the area every year and we generally have a Spa day together. This year it was my turn to choose the venue and pay for our annual treat. I would echo other reviewers and say the staff are just superb. We had afternoon tea before we went to the Spa which was scrumptious and the young lass who served us (long blond hair) was so sweet and helpful, we were made to feel like VIPs in this luxurious hotel. The Spa is very, very nice with lovely glimpses of the garden. Tracey, you welcomed us at the Spa and again made us feel very special. I enjoyed my treatments, as did my friend, and only wished I'd booked in for a few more! We were both so relaxed, it was heavenly. We absolutely will be back, there's no point us looking anywhere else for our annual treat now as we've experienced the best. The hotel looks an absolute gem in simply beautiful surroundings, I really would love to stay there!
