Spent a couple of nights at Ellies last week, fab location on the West cliff just a few minutes walk into the town. Our room was immaculately clean with modern decor and fittings, and lots of lovely little extra touches that turn an average into a WOW! Breakfast was freshly cooked and really good, with lots of choice. The hosts are welcoming and attentive with a wealth of knowledge about Whitby. No hesitation in recommending this lovely little guest house - we will definitely be back :-)

Arriving at Ellies we were wamly welcomed by Val and Peter who, during our stay did all they could to make us comfortable and helped us out when we required information on a variety of queries, down to bus times and tide times!! Our room was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated to a very high standard. Plenty of drawer and cupboard space, and nice homely touches like couple of nice mirrors and tablelamps, furnishings were tasteful. Bed was extremely comfortable and all in all, could find nothing to complain about . Actually felt like home from home. En suite facilities were excellent. An excellent choice of fruits snd cereals were available at breakfast along withe the full english breakfast which was pre-ordered the previous night, so there was no waiting.

Situation of the guest house is in an ideal place, 5 minutes walk to the town itself and 2 mins to the West Cliff area above the town where you can enojy stunning views.

We enjoyed our stay so much we intend to return and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others..

this was our third stay at ellies with Val and Peter in the last 12 months, guest house as always exceptionally clean and decor to a very high standard.Val and Peter always very friendly whilst being professional and very welcoming in sharing their home with us.Ellies is situated in an ideal location to the town itself being only no more than 5 minutes walk.Breakfasts are brilliant with great choice of cereal, fruit, full english, tea, coffee.and toast, also generous teatray in room that is restocked every day.good supply of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in each ensuite and good quality towels and bed linen.Nothing too much trouble for Val and Peter and will be returning again and again.

Room Tip: rooms 3 & 5 are our favorites front facing.

We visited Ellies with our niece Emily aged 11 and booked the family room. It was spacious very clean and well co-ordinated. Our bed was hugh and very comfortable and Emily was over the moon there were bunk beds and was very excited to sleep on the top but when shown to the room, only the bottom one was made up and Peter advised us he preferred her to use that one as the top one was very difficult to make up, resulting in one disappointed little girl! The breakfast was lovely but had to be pre ordered not something of which I am a fan of and cant imagine it would have been much longer if ordered on the morning. Val and Peter very friendly and parking in school yard for small charge greatly appreciated. Val has lots of painting. s and crafts withing the guest house and they can be purchased which I did and now reminds me of good weekend away and would definitely recommend. A good touch was the slate provided for hair straighteners.

We always make up the bottom bunk only when a family of 3 stays as it is easier to make up.If we had been asked to make up the top bunk instead we would have been happy to oblige.

The pre ordered breakfast is not 'set in stone' as numerous guests ask us to change it when they come down for breakfast. However it does help us to keep down wastage and therefore helps us to keep our rates down. The vast majority of our guests seem to think it is quite a good idea.

We arrived at Ellies and were greeted by Val and Pete who showed us around the family room which was spacious spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated with some original artwork by Val herself.
The location is very handy for walking anywhere in the centre of Whitby, old and new parts. During our stay we paid a small charge for parking in the schoolyard at the rear of the guesthouse. (the fee goes towards the school)
The breakfast was very well cooked (traditional English) plus there was a variety of fruit yoghurt and cereals available.
The en suite shower room was nicely decorated and very clean.
All in all a very pleasant stay topped off by my partner accepting my marriage proposal.
I highly recommend Val and Pete's hospitality.

Room Tip: The family room is huge.I believe the childrens bunk beds are to be changed.

I spent a long time picking holiday accommodation for a 3 night stay in Whitby, its difficult to decide where to book when there is such a wealth of accommodation available. I read various reviews for B&B's and settled finally on Ellies. It was a good decision to make, the owners were exceptionally friendly and welcoming and keen to give us information on places of interest to visit during our stay. The accommodation itself was spotless and finished to a nice standard, I was impressed by the standard of the ensuite which had space, light and again was extremely clean. The breakfast was lovely, a really good standard and quality with nice bright white crockery and lots of choice- it allowed you to pick exactly what you wanted to eat.In terms of location when we arrived at Whitby station we used directions from the accommodation booking site to locate Ellies- this was not the best way to reach the accommodation since you walk in an uphill circle to get to it, so it may be worth checking out on google directions a better route before arriving. The actual location of the accommodation is fantastic I understand why people advise you to stay in west Cliff as it is only 5 minutes away from the center of Whitby but you also get some fabulous views of the sea on the walk into the center. It was a fabulous experience and we will most definitely be staying there again.

Room Tip: There are 3 floors room 7 and 8 are on the top floor so maybe request rooms 1-6 if you don't li...
