5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2013

Pies were delicious, very very filling nice unusal fillings. After we ordered they were on the table in about 1 minute! The decor is nice and suits the cusine. Excellent value for money! Only draw back...they are not licenced but you can take your own alchol in, which makes it an even cheeper evening! Waitress was not the cheeriest person Ive ever met though....she should try to smile more!

“Best place to eat in Whitby!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2013 via mobile

We found this place on our final night in Whitby and it was by far the best place we ate at in our entire stay.

Everything about this place is fantastic. The 40s atmosphere and music, the decor, the metal bowls the food is served in. It all makes for a great experience.

In terms of the food it was really great pies, a good selection to choose from and my vegetarian girlfriend was well catered for.

I have to congratulate the owner for allowing dogs in to the restaurant. There is a sign clearly on the door informing people of this policy. Anyone who complains despite this should be ashamed.

The very best thing about Humble Pie 'N' Mash? The fact that me and my girlfriend both had great meals and a drink each all for £13! Insanely good value for money in a town where £13 won't get you a main course in some of the more well known establishments.

“Simple but cheap and cheerful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2013

Good little place for a bit of old fashion simple fare. We had the haggis pie, very taste. Its not somewhere for a proper nice meal, but if you are hungry after all the walking and cycling in your comfy outfit, this a is ideal to refuel. The lady who served us was very polite.

“Very, very good”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2013

Had to write this after reading through some of the other recent reviews. We were in Whitby for a week this September and we actually visited Humble Pie twice. Both times were good, in fact very good. No lumpy mash, no granular gravy. We would have preferred mushy peas, but it was explained that they are difficult to keep nice & fresh. My husband thought the portions were too small (but he is a bit of a pig) and he didn't realise that he could have had extra mash! The pies on both occasions were very tasty. I especially liked the steak pie, lovely chunks of tender meat.
We were upstairs on both visits as there was no room downstairs. This was no problem. We found the staff very pleasant.
We also visited Dittos which is no 1 in Whitby. I know they are different types of places, but I actually preferred Humble Pie!!!

“Simple Fare”

Can't really fault what it does, simple fare, served simply in unpretentious surroundings. The Romany Homity Pie was very tasty
