We stayed at the Blencathra for two nights over a weekend in August. From the very first phone call, when reserving the room, Ron the owner was really friendly. WHen we arrived both Ron and his wife were very welcoming and down to earth. I would definitely return, the room was clean and comfortable. It's situated a stone's throw from the town's cebtre and we had a view of the abbey from our bedroom window.

Stayed here on the night of the 7th November 2009 along with family dog.
Owners were welcoming and very helpful and hospitable
En-suite room we had was warm, comfortable clean and well furnished great after a long day out on the rocks of some of the nearby resorts and villages.
Food was good with a really nice home cooked breakfast.
Located on the West Cliff of Whitby amongst several B and B's and we chose this one for its clean look, location for the whole of Whitby and ease of walking into town.Free On street parking.
Family dog made to feel very welcome and we would recommend this place to anyone wanting a relaxed stay winter or summer

Ron and Jean made our stay a memorable one. The location is less than a 5 minute walk from the sea front - very close to the Pavilion and the Whale bones.
Ron found us a great parking spot, and we did not use the car again until we left. Everything you want to see is within walking distance.
Blencathra is brightly painted on the exterior and as you enter it is warm and friendly. Very clean - dining room and bedroom - spotless bathroom. They take a pride in their home and guest house and make you feel at home very quickly.
There is no lift, and Ron kindly carried some of our luggage to the bedroom.
The bed was most comfortable affording an excellent night's sleep. The en-suite bathroom was spotlessly clean. Colour TV (wall mounted) and courtesy tray offering an assortment of refreshments.
The full english breakfast was well prepared.
There is a plethora of restaurants within walking distance. The Granby pub offers fabulous food at unbelievably good value prices. Servings were huge and my wife and I were unable to finish the meal (Unusual for us).
We have booked for an extended holiday in May 2010 ... which says it all really.
Great place to stay. Well done Ron & Jean.
