Description: Beckett's is a small, family-run, dog-friendly coffee shop off the beaten track in lovely Skinner Street. We serve a small but ever-changing menu made from local ingredients where possible including delicious soups and 'beckanini' - which are large, soft and not gum-cloggingly dry. Our cakes are all sticky and home-made using real butter and free-range eggs (the rhubarb and custard cake is a favourite) and new this year are home-made cookies. The coffee is delicious and all Fairtrade.

“The cakes!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2014

This is an amazing coffee shop with some of the best homemade cakes we have ever had! Everything about Beckets makes you feel relaxed and happy. The walls of the coffee shop are lined with books and they have a selection of reading glasses to borrow if you have left yours at home.
The real stars of the show are the cakes- lemon and ginger, lime and coconut, coffee and brandy, mint and chocolate, and a lot more that we didn't have room for. The portions are huge and each cake is homemade. As we couldn't finish the cakes the staff kindly wrapped them for us to take on our travels- how many places would do that?
This is an exceptional coffee shop with character and absolutely fabulous cakes!
Dogs are welcome and offered a bowl of water.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2014

After having read the reviews for this coffee shop we made a visit 7th April. The cakes were excellent, very moist and very moorish. The paninis were also excellent. Well worth a trip.

“Popped in for a quick coffee, ended up staying ages, reading their books!”

Lovely coffee, very friendly staff, and I found a very special book to buy for a friend. Becketts is obviously where the locals gather, alog with various dogs!

“Super friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2014 via mobile

Really liked this place. Has a very nice feel to it with wall to wall books (reasonably priced for sale) and inviting descriptions of the food and drink available. All the people working there were extremely friendly and the hot drinks and cakes were excellent. Our only beef was that like many places in Whitby the opening hours are a bit restricted.

“Perfect lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2014

Cosy atmosphere, book lined walls, attention to detail, dog friendly, homemade everything, cow shaped milk jug! Nice fresh food beautifully presented, very good quality produce including drinks. My advice.....pound the streets and beaches whatever the weather then collapse in this café for a warm up. You won't be disappointed. PS Closed on Wednesdays I think.
