Exceptional service. DelIghtful food-beautifully cooked. £24 for 3 courses, reasonably priced drinks and complimentary liqueurs. Can't fault it! Go there!

For my birthday we went to Number 4, the first time in 18 months. Nothing has changed, the standard is still high, the food full of flavours, and Maureen, as always, was an excellent host.
Mum had duck, I had pork, both cooked to perfection and literally drifting from the bone; the poached pear with marmalade ice cream was a delightful was to finish, just as the melon with sorbet excited the palate as a starter.
Hopefully we'll not leave it so long before returning.

Such a fantastic place to eat food spot on shame my duck could have been pinker but that is me being picky. The service AMAZING all the little bits count and they don't forget any of this eg welcome olives/humus, home made bread, taking you drinks to the table, cleaning you crumbs between meals, taking your Coates etc. The food just the right amount, lots of taste, well displayed. Will go back without a doubt. Fantastic

I went here for a meal with my girlfriend for 6.30 on a Saturday having booked at 4 on the same day. It is a small, fairly informal place just outside of Whitby centre - a taxi ride away. The meal was very good with little bits stealing the show - the homemade bread, the fresh crab, the beautiful Pinot Noir and the perfectly-cooked steak. Best feature of the restaurant was the owner who was very warm and welcoming which I think is quite difficult to get right.
