“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

We've just had a fantastic weekend at Dillons. What nice people Craig and Matthew are, nothing is too much trouble for them. On arrival we were met by both of them and had lemon drizzle cake, coffee and a chat, what a lovely start to the weekend. We stayed in the Masi room which was decorated to a very high standard in warm colours and the bathroom was lovely also. Each day there was a special for breakfast, as well as traditional breakfast. I had cheesey eggs and bacon on the Saturday and on the Sunday mushrooms in a cream sauce and crispy bacon, they were really tasty dishes and such a nice change.

We have stopped many times in Whitby but Dillons certainly lives up to it's No 1 status!.

We'll be back and thanks to you both for the lovely stay.

Jenny and Andrew

Warm and friendly welcome from the owners helped make our all too short a stay in Whitby a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable break.

Warm, clean, tastefully decorated and with lots of thoughtful touches our room, the Massai, had a very comfortable bed with quality linens and lots of pillows and cushions.

Whitby is a real star with plenty to do over a few days even though it was bitterly cold forcing frequent stops for hot chocolates or the occassional pint.

The 199 steps up to the abbey didn't seem too bad and the village church at the top was well worth the effort on its own with all its period features including its individual stalls.

Will risk the crowds later in the year to enjoy some of the excellent seafront walks.

Room Tip: All the rooms are individually decorated but all seem comfortable

This was our second visit to Dillons which is run extremely well by Mathew and Craig. We were made to feel so welcome on arrival and were looked after extremely well over the period of our stay. Standards are exceptional with so much attention to detail. They are able to create such a tranquil and caring atmosphere. They offer a wide range of add-on experiences in terms of food alternatives, from picnic hampers to take out, through welcoming hot food on arrival to specials on the breakfast menu. It is such a pleasure to see such caring and customer aware people in the hospitality business. Unfortunately this time we had to cut our visit short due to potential travel problems but look forward to a return in the spring or summer.

This was our first time at Dillons but it certainly won't be our last. Right from the first moment my girlfriend and I were made to feel very welcome. We arrived late due to some heavy snow coming across the moors but that was no problem, check in was easy and fast and the room was absolutely perfect. We stayed in the Raj room which is one of the more expensive but it was definitely worth every penny.

We were in a rush to get out and grab a bite to eat before restaurants started closing (this was January at the seaside after all) and were given some great recommendations and a map to help us find them.

We chose Moutreys for dinner and it was fab, a bit quiet (this was January at the seaside after all!) but we got a delicious hand made pizza from their pizza oven, spinach canelloni and a bottle of red. All good.

Back to Dillons...the bed was wonderful with superb quality linen, the towels were big and fluffy and the decor was delightful. After a great night's sleep breakfast was a real highlight. Home made granola with fruit and yoghurt were followed by a full home cooked Yorkshire fry up. Yum. There was so much more on the menu, I wish we could have tried it all!

So all in all a short but wonderful stay, Craig and Matt were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. I'll be recommending Dillons to any of my friends looking for a home from home for a short break by the sea.

Room Tip: The rooms are unique and all different so I'd recommend checking the photos on the website to se...
