We recently stayed at the arches for a weekend, the second time this year.Once again everything was spot on,relaxing ,very comfortable, friendly . Again our room was excellent, the breakfasts were up to the usual high standard.I had special one, poached egg with kippers which was very nice, one morning. Will be returning again next year.

Room Tip: a couple of comfy chairs near window. room 6

My partner and I have just returned from a long weekend in Whiby and we stayed at The Arches. This was our 1st visit to the Arches and it was second to none. On arrival we were welcomed by Dave and Laura and offered a pot of tea or coffee and homemade biscuits which was eagerly accepted.
Dave showed us to our room which was very clean and comfortable and included towels and toiletries ( not just sample packs as in hotels but full size quality products) Dave took the time to explain the options and times for breakfast. The breakfast choice was first rate. Home made muffins, scone, parkin, jam and marmalade were all delicious and freshly made each day.Very comprehensive menu from bacon sandwich to full English was available as was unlimited amounts of juices, toast, tea and coffee. Dave and Laura were very friendly and will definitely be seeing us again. A stay at The Arches is highly recommended

This weekend was my third visit to Arches, Whitby. Laura and Dave are there to welcome you on your arrival with a cheering cuppa and homemade biscuits or brownies! The bedroom had been revamped since my last visit making it bright and cheerful, not that the previous decorating was by any means shabby. The breakfast is cooked to your liking - nothing is too much trouble for Laura - she's always willing to accommodate your tastes. The fruit salad is prepared freshly every morning and there's always homemade jams and marmalades for your toast. I have already booked my next visit and would recommend this guesthouse to anyone wanting a home from home for their visit to Whitby.

This was my third visit to The Arches, and again it was lovely, our room (Rm 1) has been refurbished since our last visit last september (we have also rebooked for next september), and is still, clean and comfy. little thing like the ipod dock alarm clock, fresh homemade biscuits in the room and good quality toiletries, makes this a special and on a different level to other B&Bs.
I love Laura's cooking and the breakfasts are fab first morning I had the full english with scrambled eggs, devine! the second morning I had the special which was locally smoked kipper, poached eggs and brown bread these were equally delicious and the poached eggs were perfect! on the third morning I just had bacon and eggs with toast, and some toast with homemade jam and marmalade (another little thing that shows Dave and Laura are trying to be different and maintain a standard) I also took one of Laura's homemade wholegrain and blueberry muffins, which I had the following morning still fresh and delicious.

Dave and Laura are fantastic hosts and make you feel welcome a home from home experience, they will do anything to try and help and make your stay as comfortable as possible. looking forward to my stay again next September, and if I get to Whitby before then, I won't be staying anywhere else!
