Never stayed at this hotel but have used the restaurant twice now. One for lunch and one for dinner. Both meals superb. Especially the evening meal. I have been to many countries and lived in a few in 4 different continents. I have to say the meal was in one of my favourite ever. Mind you I do love my shellfish and all other types of fish. We took our grandaughter and grandson and they also both enjoyed it very much. Even the scampi we had one lunchtime tasted like the best scampi ever. The meal is one thing and the staff are also superb. Very attentive, and friendly but also not too over fussy. Shona Mari playing the baby grand and singing good songs certainly enhances a perfect evening. Definitely will be a regular visitor to this restaurant

This was our 1st stay at The Marine but it will not be the last,we stayed in room 2 for 2 nights in early December after having to change a booking in May which the hotel allowed us to do at no extra cost. The room is really good and the views over the harbour are great. We invited 4 friends to join us for a meal in the restaurant on the Sunday evening and everyone who had a sea food dish said it was very good indeed,i am not allowed shell fish and was struggling a little with the starters as i was worried in case the crap cakes may have been in contact with any shell fish so the chef said he would sort me a nice none fish starter out, when it came it was a great piece of black pudding topped with a poached egg with 3 rashers of back bacon and some salad,i thought i would have done as a breakfast but i had not seen the breakfast and that was another delight waiting around the corner.
I had a sirloin for main which was so good i found the butchers they use for all the their meat and came home yesterday with bacon sausage and steaks.
Breakfast is one of the best i have had in a hotel and after being a sales rep for 25 years on the road i have had a few.
Parking on the street is free after end of September but before that you can park in public pay car parks about 5 mins away or if you can get on further round the corner on the same street that is free as well.
The staff are all pleasant and happy to help with anything you need at anytime.
Looking forward to booking another stay soon.

Room Tip: No tea or coffee in rooms but available free of charge and with you within 2 minutes if you ring do...

This is probably our 6 or 7th stay in the Marine Hotel. The staff are so helpful, nothing is too much trouble, as soon as we were shown to our room by Liam we were offered tea and coffee. We ate in the restaurant on our second night and the food is just superb! Breakfast both days was very nicely cooked and good portion size. We never want to go home from this place!!! We will be back soon !!

Room Tip: Stayed in 1, 2 and 3 all good

The location is idyllic, perfectly placed right on the harbour. Parking is slightly difficult, you need to park on an on-street loading space, take your cases to the hotel and then park the car a few hundred yards away on the street, once the time limited spaces expire.

The hotel is probably better described as a restaurant with rooms, that is not to decry the service in any way, moreover to stress just how good the restaurant is. The welcome is very warm, tea and coffee are available by room service free of charge. The rooms are great, we stayed in room 3, friends in room 4, both beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Room 4 has a feature bath and clearly has an edge.

In the daytime and evening, there is relaxed live music from a number of artists, using the electric piano. We loved it, very relaxing, very entertaining. The food in the restaurant is not surprisingly fish focussed, given that the trawlers are tied up just outside. It is well priced, well delivered, and quite contemporary. The breakfast was one of the best that I have ever come across, very varied, great quality. Eggs Benedict was a real winner.

Probably not a good choice for any disabled travellers, the access and parking would be challenging. There were some children in the restaurant, who seemed to enjoy the experience just as well as the adults.

Room Tip: Definitely room 4, top floor, feature bath, beautiful.

If you like seafood then try the Marine, scallops, crab and salmon starters. Then the main event shell fish linguini and enormous Dover sole perfectly cooked. Dining room a bit basic but the live music, food and service more than made up for this

Room - great views, relaxing layout and great shower. Only slight faults were a dirty towel, which was very quickly sorted with genuine apologies and bright light underneath door at night, which was quickly covered by using a cushion. Very minor considering the rest of the experience.
Staff - absolutely brilliant and couldn't have done anything more. They are a credit to The Marine and probably some of the best I've experienced.
Food - the breakfasts are varied (I had kedgeree and my partner a full English), beautifully prepared and delightful to taste.
We stayed in Room 1 and while the price (£150) was expensive, the staff, views, room and breakfast probably justified it.
Would I go back - definitely and I'd highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Don't miss breakfast

We were fortunate to have organised our wedding reception at the Marine a year ago today so going back was potentially going to be a risky venture. We needn't havw worried everything was as good as we remembered.

The food, service and comfort was as before truly exceptional. Once again Chloe thanks to you and your team for making our first anniversary such a memorable one!
