I love being able to chose several smaller portions, so there's no problem making your mind up with the menu. All of them wonderful! Several small deserts is always a winner too!

This is not traditional Spanish tapas. It is a menu of lots of little dishes that delight. Try the garlic prawns, the baked camembert and the scallops and black pudding. Add some curly fries, crusty bread and good wine..great! Ask for a window table upstairs and you can watch the harbour life unfold below. Also, it is quieter and more intimate upstairs. Service is good and the food is value for money. Enjoy!

We went to Whitby on Bank Holiday Monday, and it was predictably busy. We passed by most of the well-known fish and chip takeaways and restaurants because there were such large queues and decided to go into Harry's.

The bar has a modern clean decor and has a number of tables outside, but these were all taken when we got there. Inside was quieter and it was nice to get away from the crowds outside. The staff were very amiable and since we had already decided it was a fish and chip day, the family all ordered the same.

When the fish and chips came they were attractively served in a wire basket. They were served with a bowl of crushed minted peas, which were delicious, although it would have been nice to have had a lot more of these! The chips were clearly home made and well cooked. The fish was also well cooked with a crisp and light batter. I think serving them in the basket meant that they were not swimming with grease like some other fish and chips we have eaten.

The only reason I am not giving Harry's 5/5 is that we had to wait a long time (nearly an hour) from ordering to receiving our food. The waitress did apologize and we did seem to be the exception rather than the rule. The fish and chips were more reasonably priced than some of the other restaurants at £7.50 and I would definitely recommend giving them a try when you are next in Whitby.

We ate the midweek special two courses for £25 for two. We had Thai marinated steak strips for starter and mussels and fries for mains which was cooked really well and delicious. Staff are fantastic great service and lovely surroundings. Definitely recommend.

Sitting upstairs with a view over the harbour of Whitby was most delightful. The food served was fresh, tasty, but were quite small in portion size. In regards to the staff, most were pleasant. One member didn't seem to want to be there and kept on "huffing and puffing" which was a little bit off-putting. Overall, good food, but could do with a little more on your plate!
