3rd time we have stayed here.this year we were treated to musty and damp smelling bed linen.the shower had broken controls ,but still worked ok.the back was missing of the remote control so the batterys could fall out.free sat is used over free view and is over complicated with too many useless channels.beds seem cheap and mattresses thin and uncomfortable ,needs better curtains as they are thin and let in alot of light.new blinds seem to have been poorly fitted in the living room and fell of the walls when nearby.on the plus side really nice swimming pool ,well heated and private.very close to the shopping area so was nice to drop of the shopping rather than walking with it.parking is free if you walk a few streets away..overall needs refreshing and a few quid spent on it .most probably give it a miss next time

The worst accomodation i have seen since the 1970s when i was a teenager. in all fairness we didnt even stay here! after unpacking our bags and having a walk around town we decided to stay somewhere else.
i suppose if you are in your teens (or pretending you still are) and on a stag night it might be ok. as the smell of stale beer and vomit might disguise the smell of the rooms. Also no need to worry about someone smashing the rooms up whilst showing off to his mates, as the entire decor could be replaced by a trip to a charity shop.

Room Tip: stay elswhere!

We booked a room on the internet at discovery accomodation at Whitby as the pictures of the rooms seemed to be really good. Upon arrival we were told that we were not staying in the main building and given a map to find our own way to our room, the receptionist never told us about any of the facilities i.e breakfast or the swimming pool,we were basically just given the keys and the map and that was it. We were allocated the room Banks, when we inspected the room it was very small with cheap furniture and bed, their were long grey hairs in the bed and marks over the sheets there was marks all over the shower tray the whole room itself was very depressing and i was just thankful we were only staying one night,we complained about the sheets and they were changed but the sheets that were the replacements had marks on them as well. I felt like we were staying in student accomodation and did not reflect the pictures on the website. The only plus side was the location as it was right in the heart of Whitby ,i would not stay there again or recommend to anyone as it was one of the most depressing rooms i have had the misfortune to stay in.

Room Tip: Dont stay in the banks room.

Stayed for a family weekend in Whitby. We were in bosons rest.

Charged for car parking but could not park due to other guests straddling bays.
Parking at our other party members accomodation was the same and was a steep tight driveway into car park. (immpossible to get a decent family car into so we parked in the street and refund was refused).

Accomodation was clean but basic.
Big concern was a velux window above single bed in the family room. My 4 year old could open and could have easily gained access to the roof by standing on his bed. Locks or a strap should be fitted so it cannot be opened fully.

Also steep stairs to single rooms and hand rail did not go completely to the top

Family room was on top floor at both our locations and no lift so be prepared to carry prams and pushchairs up a few flights of stairs

Would recommend and stay again but think the owners should address safety issues above if continuing to rent to young families.

The accommodation lived up to all my expectations. It was compact, but had everything you need for a couple for a couple of days.

The Street is very narrow, park up and walk to collect your keys, there is a pay and display at the top of the street - come in from the main road (cliff road, by the whale bone arch).

You are not alone though, you share the accommodation with quite a few other people, in our building there were 2 other flats/cabins!

It is wood clad on the inside, so you feel like you are in cabin. Light, airy, 2 not so comfy chairs, table, tv and the kitchen is fabulous .. hidden away behind 2 closed doors, you open it up to find everything you need, hob, fridge, sink, microwave with all cutlery and crockery needed. The shower room is on the same floor (down about 5 steps, inside) - HUGE shower, modern sink - up some stair to the double bedroom with a skylight window, with a fab blackout blind and good size wardrobe.

Our tv remote stopped working, we gave it in at the office, it was back in the cabin within a couple of hours.

The breakfast was ok, Thurs morning was much better than Fri morning - the chef had changed! But you could get fed up with the same old, same old every morning.

If I was going to be extra picky there were a few cobwebs in the corners of the front room walls - but that is the only negative.

Room Tip: Yes I would recommend to others, it is a good location the only thing you need to be made aware of i...

Me and my fiance came here for a two night break in whitby. The apartment (In newton house) was basic but good with everything you may need for a self catering break. it was cleaned to good standards and furnished adequately.

The location was perfect and once we parked in our space (£6 A day) we didn't use the car again for the entirety of the trip as it was a 5 min walk down the the sea and main street.

A few minor issues of note, the car park is very tight but we have a small car so no real issue there. And the walls are a little thin so we could here noise from the other apartments but it really wasn't an issue and I worried more about me disturbing the neighbours than vice versa. And i was looking forward to having local kippers for breakfast only to find a sign saying that the smoking and or cooking of kippers was forbidden and would incur a £100 charge. Now I can understand about smoking them but cooking them really couldn't have been that bad, I serve them in our hotel for breakfasts and the smell really doesnt linger that long. None the less I didn't risk it.

Overall good accommodation in a great location in a great town. All at a great price.

We will use again next time were in whitby... Ill just eat my kippers outside...

We had a fantastic stay using discovery accomodation. There were 10 of us in total and we stayed in discovery house and the adjoining annexes. The house was spacious and very clean and well equipped. The annexes are bright and modern and had great views of the abbey. They were also well stocked with everything you need from iron and ironing board, tea, coffee, shampoo etc
The staff have been extremely helpful and friendly from the time of us booking to us leaving.
I visit Whitby regularly and I will definately use these again.
