“The Grove and Whitby Again and Again!”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

Well I wrote a review last year and thought I'd update it as we have just comeback from a sunny Whitby. We stayed for the 7th time at the Grove b&b and as usual our stay with Angela and David was "perfect".What a grea place to stay. The weather was glorious and the food was lovely, generous yorkshire helpings!!! It was nice to see our old haunts still open and popular. The Endeavour Pub across the bridge comfy and inviting, barmaid Sue a pleasure to meet,The George was better this year no "young" music blasting out as previous times so enjoyed that.Places to eat,the Board Inn and Shambles across the bridge these are both reasonable prices, good helpings and good food, fish and chips we tried the Quayside this year and we glad we did how fantastic." Well worth a visit, went to the lifeboat shop and museum got to go here,Goathland is lovely and Flamborough Head all great places. If you fancy a walk, try Whitby to Sandsend and have a coffeee at the cafe there, great places ,great hotel, great holiday.See you next year Grove Hotel.!

Just back from our third stay at the Grove. Rooms very clean and confortable, breakfast excellent, with everything you would want. Private parking a great advantage, location just a few minutes from the harbour, bus and railways stations. Proprietors very friendly and welcoming. In short, no point in looking anywhete else in Whitby if you can get in here.

We always stay here when we visit – for over 15 years now. They have parking round the back, and access to the hotel from the rear too, which saves going down all those steps!
It's directly opposite Pannett Park, so you can walk through there to get into town if you wish. The rooms are newly decorated and very comfortable – we always have a wonderful night's sleep.
Ange supplies fruit, yoghurt and cereal for breakfast, as well as as much toast as you want, jams, honeys and marmalades, followed by a Full English Breakfast, or whatever alternative you prefer. As we're vegetarian we get 2 fried eggs (always perfect!), 2 hash browns, lots of mushrooms, 2 grilled tomato halves, baked beans and, of course, the aforementioned toast. Orange juice and a choice of freshly brewed tea or coffee accompany this feast.
Dave has nearly finished re-doing the huge garden, and what a lovely job he's done too.
There's also a flat downstairs if there is a group of you (but you still get your brekky!).
You're welcomed like a member of the family, and they always have time to stop and chat. All Whitby folk are friendly, but Ange and Dave are right at the top – nicer people you could not meet!

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have a wonderful view, those at the back are quieter traffic-wise (but those herr...

Booking was very easy. We had Room 2, on 1st floor overlooking side garden/front. It was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable. Exterior of building was well maintained, sparkling clean windows. The room had everything you need, apart from a hairdryer (which could be provided on request). The owners were very nice and helpful. The dining room was well presented. You had a table allocated to you, which was nice. Breakfast was excellent, there was a breakfast menu including cereals, fresh fruit, toast and the best full english breakfast we've had, not at all greasy. A car parking space was available at the back of the hotel which was great (you have to go through the estate at the back to get there but its no problem). The hotel is on a main road but we were not bothered with noise at all, and opposite the lovely Pannett Park. Whitby harbour is just a short walk down the road. It was a very reasonable price and I would thoroughly recommend it.
