Went back to Prospect house for the third year running.Such a great house to stay in with Wendy, a great laugh such a good host. Breakfasts are plentyfull a lot to choose from. Not to far to walk into the town. Plenty of parking space. The room at the front of the house is the superior room which is where we stayed large bathroom.plenty of wardrobe space so comfortable. Will go back again as we love it there so much. Especially the moorlands.

Room Tip: Front room is superior

We recently spent 8 nights at this lovely B&B due to having some renovation work on our property.

Our room was very comfortable and warm with everything we needed with lovely little touches. Whilst professionally run, Prospect House is small enough for that personal attention you can expect from a family run business. This is the place to stay if you want a relaxing friendly break near to town with the added benefit of private parking.

Wendy is so welcoming and hospitable it was a pleasure to stay here. We will have no hesitation in recommending this lovely B&B to anyone visiting Whitby.

Thank you, Gill & Martin.

We decided to go and visit Whitby at the very last minute and found ourselves looking at Prospect house on laterooms.com. It looked like just what we needed and had very good reviews. The only room available for the two nights that we wanted was described as being 'compact'. This didnt bother us as the price obviously reflected this and we only needed it as a place to sleep!

We tried to book via late rooms but it wouldnt let us as it was gone 9pm. We tried on the off chance to phone through and Wendy answered the phone. We made the booking and Wendy gave us advice on getting there and where to park. She also said it didn't matter if we got there early, just ring the bell or if no answer- give her a call.

We arrived just after lunch time and found very convenient private parking to the rear of the building. Wendy greeted us and made us feel very welcome. Great first impressions all round. She showed us to our room which, as advertised was on the small side, but was ample for what me and my partner wanted. However I would say that I think the 'larger' person may struggle to manoeuvre around the bed without the clothes rail getting in the way. Also the shower which was fine for the both of us, may be a squeeze for some. despite its size, the facilities in the room were plentiful. TV (terrestrial channels only), DVD player, tea making facilities, glasses, bottle opener, hair drier....... everything you would expect. Nice touches were a welcome folder with information on the local area, and a selection of DVDs on the landing.

The bed was comfortable, and we had a good night sleep both nights. I was worried that the immersion tank in the bathroom cupboard, which was quite near to the bed would be noisy - but it wasn't and we didn't even know it was there most of the time. The bathroom was clean and a suitable size for the room.

On the whole, we were very pleased with this room, it was clean, tidy, warm, well decorated and comfortable.

The town centre is about 10 minute down hill walk from Prospect house. The walk back is a bit tougher as the hill is fairly steep. it didn't bother us too much though.

We were asked to tick on a menu what we would like for breakfast the night before and leave it on the hall stand. There were plenty of options and the impression I got, was that if what you wanted wasn't on there, Wendy would go out her way to do it for you. Breakfast was fantastic. The first morning I just had a sausage sandwich as I'm not keen on full English. But after seeing the other half's, I ordered it for the next day. She, on the other hand did not as she was still full from the morning before!!

In summary, Whitby is a lovely little town with plenty to see, some lovely pubs and nice places to eat. Wendy does a fantastic job running this place all by herself.......although she does cheat with the gardening ;-)

Will definitely recommend Prospect house and will come back here when we visit whitby again.

Stayed August bank holiday...viewed our room on the webiste, when we got there the room was much bigger than the pictures would suggest. Lots and lots of wardrobe space with a huge bathroom and double shower. our room was at the front of the house on a busy main road, but there was no traffic noise. Breakfast very nice and plenty of it. Wendy a lovely host and always there to help if needed.

We would love to recommend this lovely Whitby Bed & Breakfast. We will certainly tell any of our travelling friends what a wonderful B & B they will find if they go to stay with Wendy at Prospect House. The home is fresh and spotless and in a great position for exploring so many lovely places in such an interesting and spectacular area of Britain.

We just loved Whitby and the Moors and even the weather with all its rain, hail and sunshine all in the space of a few hours fascinated us.

But best of all Wendy was absolutely the best hostess we found on our whole three month long trip and she made us feel so very welcome in her home. Wendy we loved your sense of humour and your generous heart and your warm farewell hugs.

Thanks again for the lovely room and beautiful breakfasts and specially for your kind hospitality and friendliness. And who would imagine - glimpses across Whitby to Whitby Abbey on the headland from the bathroom window! We really enjoyed everything about our time with you Wendy.

stayed at the prospect house hotel for the easter weekend, was fab , the owner wendy waited for us to get there as we were running late, which i thought was very nice of her knowing how nice the weather was outside, the superior double room was lovely 6ft bed which was very comfortable, tea and coffee facilities which were topped up every day. breakfast was lush sorted you out till tea time, would recommend anyone to try it, if we go back to whitby we would definetly stay at this hotel again, highly recommended. the only down side was the road noise which i solved by just having a few extra drinks the next night and didnt hear the traffic.
