“Would Not Stay Again”
Reviewed July 20, 2011

Jill was lovely and very helpfull but.. Towels were worn and smelt odd. There were holes in the sheets. Hot water was from water heaters rather than running hot water. Breakfast was so bad that we left early the next day to avoid it. Decor is very dated and cluttered. TV did not receive digital channels. Would only accept cash.

The listing I viewed said parking available. When we arrived (which took over an hour to find!!!) there were umpteen cars triple parked outside with no where to park within a 5 min walk to the B&B and the parking that was that far off wasn't free.

I was greeted by a young lad who was very polite but didn't really know anything and unfortunately the lady of the B&B wasn't there so we had to up and find somewhere else that had free parking... fortunately we did, at a slightly higher rate but still cheaper than the parking meter!

Jill is a lovely lady who was happy to answer and advice us on any queries we had. However, we feel it was over-priced! Room was an ok size but a mix and match of decor and paper thin walls! Towels were old and slightly worn and there was a couple of stains on the duvet cover (am hoping it had been washed!!) Breakfast was cheap.....hard plastic sausages, badly cooked eggs and extremelly bad coffee! If we had paid £30-£40 for the room we wouldn't be moaning as much! A good location - about 10min walk to the harbour.

Both my husband and I booked here for a 2 night stay we enjoyed it so much that we extended to an extra night. Jill is fantastic!, nothing is to much trouble for her and she does go out of her way to ensure your stay is made as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, we personally would not stay any were else in whitby except the joben and we will keep going back. Its the little touches that count like having a cork screw and wine glasses in your room, never running out of tea & coffee making facilities, plenty of fresh towels and a breakfast that will not be matched. HONESTLY THIS REALLY IS A GREAT PLACE TO STAY AND JILL IS THE HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTESS. jodie, dave &pipp

Arrived at Guest House @ 1pm...got a free parking space right outside straight away. Then we were greeted at the door by Jill who was just so lovely and made you feel welcome straight away.
The room was very nicely decorated and clean. The bed couldnt have been anymore comfortable. There were wine glasses and corkscrew in room if needed. We were given a key for the front door just incase we were late back.
Breakfast just lacking in mushrooms but apart from that could not fault it at all.
An excellent stay in excellent accomodation with my lovely partner.

Having read the reviews i thought joben would be fine for a pit stop for me and my two teenage kids. However we found that when we arrived there was very limited parking and people had to juggle their cars about so we could sqweeze into a space. The house was dark when you walked into the hallway, even thow it was daylight outside. Our room was right at the top of the building and there was no fire escape. There were dog hairs on my sons bedclothes and the tv remote didnt work. The room was very cold in the morning, and breakfast was awful, my son and daughter who are both taller than i am,were served childrens portions, and agen there was a hair on my sons plate!.I had paid a hundred pounds for the one night and expected better than this.I would definately not recomend this b&b to anyone.
