Just returned from a great weekend away to the Riviera. We stayed in room 3. Had a wonderful view over looking the sea and fabulous weather. Was met on friday by Zed and gave us a warm welcome. The breakfast was enough to keep you full most of the day. We enjoyed the friendly relaxed atmosphere and would stay there again.

My wife and I stayed in room 14 right at the very top of the hotel, what a climb up all those stairs!,but the room was very cosy and comfortable and the views were super. We were met by Emma on arrival and were made very welcome . Breakfast was cooked to perfection ( we chose the full english) although there were plenty of alternatives to choose from plus as much juice/ tea /coffee as you want.Faultless service at all times by very cheery happy staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. We had a wonderful weekend and we will definitely book again. Thank you Zed and Emma.

Room Tip: Try to book a sea view on the middle floor(less stairs)

We went to Whitby on the spur of the moment not knowing if anything would be available. I had been on the internet looking at various B & B and this was one of the ones we had noted down to look at. We were greeted with a lovely smile and a charming welcome by Zed. We wanted three nights . The first night was to be on the very top floor and then we were moved to the bottom floor, which I can tell you was a huge relief as the top floor is about 6 flights of stairs and we're not spring chickens, nonetheless, the rooms were adequate, would have liked a clock of some description but the seagulls wake you anyway (very loud). Certain things like having bedside tables rather than shelves would be good and to make sure there is extra bedding i.e blankets, pillows in all rooms, and make sure the cleaning of the shower rooms (which were clean) are kept up to scratch. They are still in the process of revamping so I'm sure it will be top notch when finished. The breakfast was also very good and the staff were all very nice and very helpful. We will definitely stay there again. but will book next time to make sure we don't get the top floor!!!

My partner and I stayed for three nights in July, the busy holiday season. The hotel has recently undergone a big revamp and is looking fantastic, we had an ensuite double room overlooking the sea which was a good size, very clean and well maintained. The breakfast was lovely and nothing was too much trouble for the owners Emma and Zed. The hotel itself is in a perfect location and there is always plenty to do in Whitby. We have stayed in Whitby many times over the years and we would definitely recommend the Riviera.

I stayed on a Saturday night during the busier part of the July holiday season.

When I arrived at 1930 hours, there was no one who answered the doorbell, but Zed appeared clutching milk a few minutes later. This is one of the disadvantages of English B & Bs.

It was one of the few Whitby guesthouses that accepted a one night booking. My 45 pound single room overlooked the sea and was adequate. The adjacent (not ensuite) toilet and shower were in a small, spotless room. To get to the room I had to climb eight flights of stairs (fourth floor room). There was a heater in the room but no airconditioning.

Breakfast was fine: yoghurt and cereal were available. Proprietors Emma and Zed were pleasant.
