Not only is No 5 beautiful, stylish, spotlessly clean and wonderfully quirky but it is the genuine warm welcome you get from Jane, Mary (not forgetting Miss Molly) that sets No 5 apart from other bed and breakfasts. Nothing was too much trouble and despite the fact Jane and Mary must have hundreds of people to stay every year you were treated as if you were the first. Need a copy of a bus timetable? Here it is. Prefer apple juice with your delicious breakfast - the next day it appears. If we had been staying in the very best of hotels we couldn't have wished for better service. They even provided ear plugs (the seagulls are something else but you do get used to them), slippers and gorgeous toiletries. We stayed three nights here and were all very sad indeed to leave and shall be back because it is a true gem. You could come and go as you pleased and we enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing time - the room we had at the top of the house had a perfect little balcony, where, once our four year-old was asleep, we could sneak out with a bottle of wine and watch the sun go down. Perfect location too - ideally placed for the beach, the town and of course Pannett Park.

This is a great place to stay. Beautifully clean, and well furnished rooms with a lot of thought gone into what you need as a guest staying there. As well as a fantasic coffee and tea selection in your room - there is a fridge on the landing with an honestly box, where you can get cold bottled water or cola when ever you want it! The breakfast is award winning - plentiful and devine with a decent choice of food. You must try Marys home made marmelade! Jane and Mary are lovely - friendly and hospitable - nothing too much trouble. They have some fantastic quirky things decorating the B & B - the Breakfast room is an Aladdins cave of nik naks! Love it! The kind of place where you feel at home and you want to come back to again and again. And that we will do!

Room Tip: All rooms we have been in are equally good.

A very lucky find! We decided to stay an extra night in Whitby but struggled for dog friendly place. Much googling led us to No 5. The whole place is beautifully decorated, fantastically clean and has great character. Comfy bed with big fluffy pillows and a balcony with great views down to the sea. Breakfast was great too. Plenty of choice and really good ingredients!

We have stayed here for three years running and have booked again for next year. The room is spotlessly clean, very comfy beds and lovely toiletries provided which includes many little extras. The breakfast is very tasty with a good choice and generous portions. Jane and Mary are fantastic hosts and nothing is too much trouble. We would highly recommend this as a place to stay in Whitby.

Room Tip: Room 5 has a balcony.

We only stayed one night for a brief trip to Whitby. I have been working in the hospitality industry for over 13 years and me and my wife work for a world known hotel chain. We have stayed in many places round the world. This place has been a pleasant surprise for the both of us as we didn't know what to expect. The room is very cozy, nice and clean and very comfortable. A selection of 3 types of filter coffee in the room was not what we expected from a B&B.
Service was very friendly and efficient.

Good breakfast!!
