We came here ten years ago and were very disappointed with the room, though the beer and food were good. The hotel has had a major refurb. And the room (8) was very nice, though noise from the bar below was intrusive late on a Saturday night. Much better than last time, comfortable room, though macerator wc did smell when we arrived (3 flushes solved the problem). Given the price of the room (£122 per night) the tv was very small and the en-suite quite pokey, but all in all, not bad.

Room Tip: Choose a large room.

We stayed here for one night after just completing gone Yorkshire 3 peaks. We were looking forward to some great food and sleep but there was a slight issue that the power was off on half the building which meant the kitchen was shut. However the room we was in had a bath and a non electric shower so we were able to.recuperatennad freshen up. A special mention to Nina who I felt went out of her way to make everything spot on for our stay. including supplying us with cutlery and plates for our takeaway lol. The room was brilliant and the bedvery comfy and the fact we had no power actually added to the ambiance of the stay. Breakfast was very filling and fresh to order. So overall a brilliant stop over. Some great staff. And will stay again.

We've stayed at the Lion a few times in the past so were looking forward to staying again in the newly refurbished hotel. We were a bit surprised by the high price, and even more surprised when we went to check in and were told we 'weren't in the computer' even though we had a booking confirmation number, and there were three others in our party booked in. The staff were unhelpful and inexperienced. It was only after some complaining that they managed to find us alternative accommodation, which was much better value for money. We won't be staying at the Lion again.

Room Tip: Try a b&b near by, much better value for money.

We went with an 18 month old, and it was great. The food was good, and served all day so eating at a time to suit us was no problem. The staff could not have been more helpful, and it is small enough that a baby monitor from your room will work in the bar! We had a lovely meal from an interesting and extensive menu, put our son to bed, and went back downstairs for pudding, then a cask beer in the lovely courtyard right under our room's window, so we knew our son was sleeping peacefully. Dinner also came with a kids pack with a colouring book and crayons in it. The room was huge with a great bath room, including an actual bath, our only complaint was that it was too hot, but it was during a heat wave! In the morning the breakfast was good, and again the staff could not have been more helpful, including accommodating our requests for our toddler's breakfast. We had a really nice time and I would go again any time.

I stayed 2 nights with my dog, Dylan, meeting some friends for a few days walking - including the Three Peaks! All the staff were effortlessly attentive and we all felt very welcomed. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed and the food great quality for a pub/Inn. Good value for money and Dylan would certainly love to come again!
