“Family one night stay”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

We stayed in this hotel this weekend and had a great stay. We travelled as a family of four, two adults and two children 8 and 5. On arrival the hotel was very welcoming and had a gorgeous open fire burning as we wlked in out of the cold and snow.

The receptionist showed us to our family room straight away, bringing us fresh milk in a flask to add to outr collection of fresh coffee and Yorkshire Tea in our room.

The room was a good size for a family. Large double bed and a double sofa bed for the kids.

We ate our evening meal in the restaurant in the evening. Good selection of hearty meals (great for after a days walking) and a good childrens menu. This was excellent and with the benefit of attentive waitresses and a flexible kitchen enhanced our stay.

The breakfast was great. Full Yorkshire plus, cereals, fruit, yoghurts and breads. This set us all up for a walk up Pen-y-Ghent and you can also fill your flasks which is a great bonus.

All in all a good small hotel. Welcoiming for families, good selection of local beers at the bar.

Recommended for a stay if you are visiting Yorkshire.

stayed for 2 nights , lovely roaring fire in the bar area , lit all the time and so cosy for a nice drink on a cold february day!! Our room was very spacious , clean and comfy. The breakfast was wonderful and we ate both evenings in the hotel , the food was very good , lots of choice and good price range. The most impressive aspect of our stay was the staff , very polite , very cheerful and absolutely nothing too much trouble, so nice to find - everyone from the lovely manager, the bar and waiting staff and also the cleaners couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.A lovely short break which we would repeat without hesitation !!

What a gem of a find. Booked into The Lion and was met by a very friendly girl who showed us to our room. The room itself was huge with a nice sitting area and everything was spotless.
Dinner in the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. Again service was friendly and could not be faulted.
A superb breakfast set us up for our onward journey.
What a wonderful find and such good value for money. Keep it up!

The Lion at Settle is a rare being indeed, an establishment that actually lives up to its claims and delivers on every level;and in my not inconsiderable experience of UK hotels, that is worth writing about. The Lion provides comfortable, clean and more than adequate accommodation in a variety of rooms. The food is unpretentious pub food, well cooked, tasty and professionally presented and served in a delightfull restaurant or the charming bar,by a roaring winter fire. The bar and lounge area is cosy and inviting and there is a good choice of ales and other drinks. In addition, what really sets this place apart are the staff, from the Manager down, nothing is too much trouble, everyone seems genuinely pleased to make you welcome and your stay as enjoyable aspossible.I have just returned from a weekend with a party of 26 friends, a yearly get together and this was our first time at the Lion. It was also the first time that not one person had anything other than praise for our venue. Do not hesitate in staying at the Lion. Great location, lovely rooms, good old fashioned comfort food and portions that ensure you won't go hungry (Breakfasts are excellent and the choice is more than enough) The Lion is not a 5 star hotel, its not a trendy boutique B&B, its an old unpretentious inn and it does what it says on the can. Well done to all the staff for running such an excellent establishment. I hope your bosses appreciate it!

Stayed two nights,first impressions,clean,friendly staff,quality breakfast.
The room was warm, clean, just one small point, the lighting was dimly lit,a small
reading lamp was really required.
The evening meal was very good and good value for the money, the winter room
rate was a bargain,so overall great place to stay, will be back again..
