We arrived shortly after opening, as we had a 20 month old to feed, and were seated straight away and looked after by one man who was obviously doing everything on his own, serving, cooking, answering calls etc. He was doing this successfully though and we didn’t wait any longer than expected for anything. Waiting staff did arrive later.
We had starters of garlic mushrooms and a homemade mozzarella garlic bread. Both delicious and our little one devoured the garlic bread. For main I chose the special of lamb and mint meatballs served with pasta and they were delicious. Lots of chopped fresh mint complimented the lamb beautifully and the pasta and sauce were lovely too.
It is in a basement so down some tricky old steps but we managed with the pushchair and all of our baby gear. It’s not a fancy restaurant, more homely, but a well priced meal with good service and friendly staff goes down a treat for us.

A large group of us booked in late on a Saturday night, when the staff were hoping the night would due down. They warmly received us, and hosted a wonderful night. Great food and very welcoming staff

Second visit after a superb first experience. . One year later left disappointed. Starter of sardines was bland not seasoned. Main course of spaghetti putanesca was watery, tasteless and black olives had stones left in... thanks! Partner had stuffed pasta which was clearly raw. Chef kept making comments when retiring for a cig and became awkward after 2nd time. Will not return. . And water ordered was warm. Waiter was good to say only started. Chef you need an experienced sous chef to support you!!

This is a quirky basement restaurant full of character (and that’s just the owner). An authentic menu in the heart of the Dales is unexpected, but a real treat. We got there early and were the first customers, so received Matteo’s full attention. Service was quick and of a good quality. If you’re expecting a Bella Italia-chain experience, try elsewhere. Matteo runs an individual set up and is all the better for it. Try it and enjoy.

Three girls visited to “carb up” ready for the 3 peaks tomorrow. We were not disappointed, gorgeous lasagne and garlic bread with the most amazing chips.
A chef and business owner who is completely passionate about what he does, all the while training a young apprentice
Worth a visit ...
