This is a vegetarian place, owned by a couple who run at least three other eating places in Norwich, each different in character (the others are not vegetarian), but the food is so delicious and imaginative that you don't think about that. The menu is varied with lots of lighter options, and is changed from time to time, and both the light bites and the bigger dishes and pizzas are well-flavoured (not bland or stodgy) and very reasonably priced. There is a good range of soft drinks (eg real juices and cordials), beer and wine.Service is usually very rapid and cheerful. Pulse is at the end of a yard off the market place,on the upper floor of an old fire station from the days of horse drawn engines and the ambience is very pleasant. The kitchen staff work behind a high counter at one side of the big room. The ground floor is occupied by the Rainbow Whole Foods shop, but Pulse has some tables outside in the yard.
