Description: Looking for wow factor? Look no further than Pulse Café and Bar, a stylish offering from the team behind St Benedict’s Restaurant and Pinocchio’s. Café by day, bar-cum-restaurant by night, Pulse is an uber-cool hangout popular with young professionals and students alike. The warehouse style interior boasts hulking wood beams, clapperboard ceiling and antique brick walls, all set off by contemporary furniture which could well have come from our favourite high end interiors boutique. When summer comes though, don’t miss the relaxing courtyard, filled with flowers. Using fine organic produce the kitchen conjures up a world of delicious vegetarian food which will leave you wondering if you really need to eat meat ever again.

“Pulse, cafe restaurant, Norwich”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2012

This is a vegetarian place, owned by a couple who run at least three other eating places in Norwich, each different in character (the others are not vegetarian), but the food is so delicious and imaginative that you don't think about that. The menu is varied with lots of lighter options, and is changed from time to time, and both the light bites and the bigger dishes and pizzas are well-flavoured (not bland or stodgy) and very reasonably priced. There is a good range of soft drinks (eg real juices and cordials), beer and wine.Service is usually very rapid and cheerful. Pulse is at the end of a yard off the market place,on the upper floor of an old fire station from the days of horse drawn engines and the ambience is very pleasant. The kitchen staff work behind a high counter at one side of the big room. The ground floor is occupied by the Rainbow Whole Foods shop, but Pulse has some tables outside in the yard.

“Great setting.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2012

This vegetarian restaurant is a fine asset for Norwich. The setting and atmosphere is delightful, Inclined to agree that it does lunch snacks much better than full meals and feel that, although food and choice is pretty good, it could be so much better

“Mixed results”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2012

Pulse seem to do lunchtime snacks, such as paninis and platters very well, with some tasty ingredents.

Evening meals are very different though - my last experience was actually really unpleasant. An "asparagus and goat's cheese tart" was extremely dry and flavourless, with one tiny 2cm sliver of asparagus and one tiny morsel of cheese. The "herb-roasted potatoes" left a vile taste of rosemary repeating in my mouth all evening. Nasty. We didn't stop for an over-priced dessert.

“Lovely Lunch”

With such a good variety of dishes we found it difficult to choose. Really tasty food and pleasant staff. If I didn't live so far away from Norwich I would be going back again next weekend!
