This is a good hotel with quiet, clean rooms that overlooked the football pitch, (a novelty, but hardly Wembley- still enjoy before they get relegated this season). The location is good, being close to the station and a short walk along the river to a group of restaurants, with the town centre a bit further on.

Room was big but with the slight annoyance of having enough written information to start a bonfire but nothing about the hotel eg. time of breakfast or check-out time!

Breakfast was excellent- a great range of everything you could want! Reception dealt with our unusual amalgamation of bookings very well without a fuss.

Room Tip: Room overlooking pitch- if you care!

I am a new member of IHG and I work in the travel industry.
I had always thought that Holiday Inns were 3 star but I was very impressed with most of the hotel, from the lobby, to the check-in process, the room, the value of the breakfast was fantastic. I paid the same at a Novotel the following night and got some dreadful scrambled eggs and a croissant!! Here I had poached eggs, smoked salmon, macro-biotic yoghurt, fruit, juice, coffee. just amazing. Here's a tip, buy a breakfast voucher from reception, it's £9.95..... if you pay in the restaurant then it's £13.95!!

The drainage in the shower was a bit dodgy and the lack of wifi in the rooms is annoying, I paid £4.95 for 24 hours wifi usage at 4pm.... it asked me to pay again at 8am the following morning. I used the lobby internet instead of paying, but it's the principle of having bought 24 hours usage. I know as of 2014 that the wifi will be included for IHG members, but they should check out the connection for other people using it.

The staff were great and the convenience to the train station was the best.

I would definitely stay here again if I was in Norwich.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay with us.

We are very fortunate with our location as we are very close to a wide array of places to see and things to do. Here at the hotel we pride ourselves on the quality of our rooms. They are finished with the highest quality Italian furnishings.

We are currently looking at providing WIFI in our rooms but this is an ongoing process. I am sorry to hear about the internet cost issue that you experience during your stay and I will of course look into this issue. I will also pass your comments regarding the drainage of the shower onto the maintenance team.

Working in the Travel Industry as you are aware is a very competitive industry, so we really appreciate great comments and feedback and the team always read and react to all comments.

We were lucky to get a very good deal for our one-night stay at the Norwich City Holiday Inn. The advertised rate was £130/night, but we paid closer to £80, and were given a lovely, quiet room with a perfect view of the football pitch. Perhaps not hugely exciting for everyone, but as I used to be a season ticket holder at Norwich, it was an unexpected perk.

The room itself was considerably larger than an average room, with plenty of space in which to unwind and unpack. And, despite being next to the lift (something I usually dread), our night's sleep was completely uninterrupted and wonderfully dark and silent.

Breakfast was absolutely superb. An enormous self-serve buffet offered just about everything that could be hoped for - but there was also a selection of freshly prepared from-the-menu items included. We went for a combination of hot and cold choices, and all were fresh and tasty.

If you're here to see the football, the location could not be better. If you're here to see the city, then you've got a forgettable but manageable 10-15 minute walk into town along the river. It's very handy for the train station, which is no more than 5 minutes away, and there seemed to be plenty of nearby parking. Don't expect gorgeous surroundings, though - you are very much in the middle of a combo of parking lots and industrial estates. With all of the charm that you'd expect from outsize stores built in the late '90s.

For a short stay, though, this is an efficient and clean, if impersonal and rather forgettable, hotel. Made all the more enjoyable if you can find a discounted rate. And, if you're here for the football, there can't be a better option.

Spent 2 days at this really friendly, welcoming hotel. Being a wheelchair user was VERY impressed with the polite, considerate way the receptionist went about completing their H & S Accessability Questionnaire. The Bedroom was clean, tidy and enormous, (with a lovely big wetroom). The rest of the hotel was clean and tidy and the restaurant staff were very helpful and supportive. Despite the fire alarm going off at 1a.m. (putting paid to the clocks going back!), the Duty Manager was very calm, advising us to wait in the 'secure area' in the stairwell until the fire service told us we could return to our room). We look forward to returning to this hotel in the future some time, (and would not hesitate, when looking to book hotels on future trips, to look for a local Holiday Inn as a first choice!).

Room Tip: For wheelchair access needs always request a 'wheelchair access' bedroom.

Thank you for your review. It’s really great to hear that the receptionist was very considerate on your check-in. The housekeeping team has won many awards for the cleanliness so it’s really good to hear more positive feedback. It is a shame with regards to the fire alarm (and loosing that extra hour) but it’s really good to hear such good feedback about the calmness of the Duty Manager as you can imagine this can be an extremely stressful situation but the team members have received a lot of praise from the guests staying in house that night.

We really look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel and hopefully no dramas will occur next time.

It is so good to hear that you had a great stay here at the Holiday Inn Norwich City. Jessica has been working at the hotel since the doors opened and is an asset to the hotel when it comes to customer service. The pitch view rooms really are good fun, and something a little different. And it’s always good to hear you had a great breakfast, as this is the most important start to any day. So nice to hear that you had a top notch stay and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

We got a good deal on the internet for a room only. Nothing special about the room and the hotel, like most modern ones is just a human version of a battery chicken house. What ruins hotels like this is the silly high charges for just about anything you want. i.e internet £ 5 for an hour, tot of whisky (cheapest) £ 4.10 etc. Why? Presumably companies usually pick up the bill, and ultimately pass on this overhead to the consumer. How does a barman working for minimum wage feel as he charges these prices? Would sales not improve if the prices were more reasonable. I make that bottle of whisky 30 x £ 4.10 = £ 123, it £ 14 in the shops.
Stay here for easy parking and convenience. Value for money is poor at the standard room rate of £ 150 per night. Presumably this rate is for those who just walk in.

Stayed overnight on a Saturday in Sep 2013. Had a reasonable view of the football pitch from our 1st floor room (there was no match on this w/e), but recommend 4th floor or higher if you are booking and watch to watch a game. Do request this view if that's what you need, think they add a £50 tariff on match days tho.
Room was large and well equipped for our needs. Bathrooms similarly new looking and tidy, although the shower hose was not up to standard and basically the water trickled out - we reported this problem to reception staff.
Book 21 days or more before you intend going and look out for deals where breakfast is included, will save you £15 each! Breakfast was well stocked and plenty of it! Suitable for any and all tastes.
Car park is right outside, adjacent to the football ground, charges are £5 a day.
Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, well done to them, excellent customer service - specifically the English guy, sorry, forgot name.
Additional note re Norwich, allow ONE HOUR for taxi bookings during busy periods, especially night time!
Please tick the box if you found this helpful, thank you.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the football pitch, 4th floor or higher.

Thank you for taking time in writing your review and mentioning some great tips for our future guests. The pitch view rooms are a great way of watching the football; you still get the atmosphere but can stay warm. I am sorry to hear about the shower hose and this would have been logged and fixed before the next arrival. There are some great deals available at all times and worth calling in advance of the stay to see what deals are on offer. Thank you for your kind comments with regards to the reception team, I will make sure these are passed over to them. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
