I stayed at the Earlham Guest House for one night whilst visiting a friend in the city, in a single room with shared bathroom. The room was spotless, there was complimentary tea and coffee, free water, a flatscreen TV, and a fluffy bathrobe for modesty. The bed was very comfortable, and everything else in the room was smart and well appointed. The bathroom was clean and functional and I shared it with one other guest. A delicious cooked breakfast in the morning kept me full for most of the day. The owners were lovely and friendly. The guesthouse is better than most hotels I have stayed at, and I would certainly go back again.

Just come back from a fairly pleasant stay here. Although quite a trek to Norwich town centre, there is a handy little shopping centre just across the road which came in really handy. When we arrived we noticed that our particular room and the dining room had both been directed so the 'chintzy' complaints from previous guests may no longer be valid. As it was our room was decorated tastefully as wasour en suite bathroom and I can honestly say you'd have trouble finding a speck of dirt or dust in the place.
Our first night was pleasant and we slept well but on our subsequent nights builders who appeared to be regular guests were staying. As we were in the front downstairs bedroom they stood outside our room smoking and swearing in conversation to each other. They also got up at 6am to go to work and woke us up EVERY morning without fail - they didnt even attempt to keep quiet, shouting and laughing and even more disgusting - coughing up phlegm out the front which we could hear and see! Also there was a strict rule that no takeaways allowed back to the hotel so went out of our way to eat out - some times paying extra for the privilege, yet when we returned one evening there was an overwhelming stench of curry throughout the hotel all evening so obviously the rules didnt extend to everyone!
Breakfast however was divine! A full fry up cooked to perfection. The extras (cereals/fruit etc) could have been a little more varied but we still went away full and happy every morning.
On the whole a nice hotel and great value for money but perhaps there should be a rule included that guests should respect others guests!

The husband having originally taken booking for a double room for an elderly couple and their guide dog. The wife called an hour or so later to cancel. She was rather rude and defensive on the phone, stating that they offered a 'clean air environment' 'for guests with allegies. Seems unlikely given the chintzy nature of the decor with carpets and lots of soft furnishings.

Good, very clean, serviceable place. Friendly greeting. No smelly take away food rule vehemently communicated. The rooms have doors that automatically lock so if you are forgetful, then make your travel mate responsible for the key or you will have to ask for the master.
Breakfast is good. Room is good value.
Located a bit of a walk from the centre but pleasant when the weather is decent.

We were moving our son to the University and had booked a 1 night stay over in a double room with ensuite. However we received a call to state that they had made a mistake and sincerely apologised that they had made a double booking & the only room left was a double room without ensuite. They stated they would compensate us for it if we still wanted the room. On the day we arrived we were shown the room & once again they apologised for the mix up. We were allowed to have our room from noon onwards, which is excellent as most accomodation is not available until late afternoon. The guest house is ideally located & is a stones throw from the univeristy. Its also ideal if you want to visit the city. We then left to help move our son into his university accomodation and did not return until later in the evening. We had to use the shared bathroom which was very clean and was only situated on the next floor and for the rest of the night we relaxed watched some T.V, made ourselves some hot drinks and tucked into the biscuits that were complimentary.
Next morning we went down to breakfast to be greeted by one of the owners. The breakfast I have to say was excellent and the choice is very good, would put some of the hotels to shame. Considering there had been an error with our booking we were pleased with the overall hospitality & service we received.
When we come to settle the bill we were expecting a little money to be knocked off as they said but was speechless when we were told by both the owners that we didnt have to pay as it was down to there error and the night & breakfast was on them. We were very grateful but would have been willing to pay. What can we say....A big thank you to you both & I can assure you we will be using this guest house each time we or the rest of the family will be in Norwich. many many thanks
