“Chapelfield Gardens & Mall…bringing the country to Norwich…just a stroll away from city shopping”

Nestling to the North of the city centre, Chapelfield Gardens offers a green space with shared cycle ways and footpaths and well-maintained grassed areas and grounds. There are several recently updated play areas for children and families to enjoy. When coupled with the seasonal fairs, musical events and the like, the gardens and the Chapelfield Mall dovetail perfectly with the traditional, modern and established shopping and leisure experience that is Norwich. Great to enjoy a cup of tea in the fresh air or an ice cream from the kiosk on a warm day and Pedro’s Mexican restaurant has been there for years too, offering an alternative refreshment and dining choice.
With several entrances to the park, the only strange element for me is why there is no direct access for pedestrians to the mall from the Chapelfield gardens area….a design flaw there methinks. There is also talk of expansion of Chapelfield North by making it a two-way road…no doubt through removal of several established trees..
Pedestrian access to the mall follows established routes from Gentleman’s Walk and St Stephens and the main entrance is framed by a large outdoor LED television screen on the outdoor approach from the Marks & Spencer’s area. Parking is straightforward underground although the approach entrance can get stacked up on Saturdays. Plenty of stores to choose from with a food court and a scattering of coffee shops throughout and restaurants on the approach entrance plain too, the Mall lends itself to be enjoyed by the shopper. The cleanliness of the place is always welcome and the facilities are modern, airy and bright. With a range of high-end concessions within the multi-level House of Fraser, coupled with a good mix of individual and national brands throughout the Mall, it is easily seen why this complements the other shops in the city to give Norwich its high rating as a shopping city.
Very close to the bus station, but quite a way from the train station for those on foot, the Mall and gardens are nevertheless very accessible for visitors and shoppers alike.
A great transformation from the old Rowntree's chocolate factory that once stood there….Chapelfield…well worth checking out.

This pleasant urban park is right next to the Norwich theatre royal and barely a couple of minutes walk from the chapelfields shopping centre and the norwich forum. It is everything you would expect from a good park and perfect either to go to let your kids play in the playground, go for a nice picnic or as a stopoff on the way to other parts of the city centre. There is a small outdoor cafe to the eastern edge of the park which adds a little something to this area.

Lovely little park in the centre of Norwich. Great on a warm day to let the kids let off steam after a shopping trip or to have lunch outside. This park is the focal point of many outdoor cultural events, fairs, markets etc and was the centre of the Olympic torch celebrations in Norwich. It small its historic significance means it has a special place in the hearts of Norwich residents.
