Reasonably good choice sometimes the pie look a bit tired having been on the hot plate for a long time good choice of vegetables and joints, I am not normally a sweet eater but could not resist especially the bakewell pudding and custard. Competitive prices.

This is a cheap and cheerful carvery and majorly used by the elderly and those on a budget. The meat (turkey, beef or gammon) and vegetable choice is OK, and you can fill your plates high. I was working late on a weekday so we got there about 20:45 and there was still plenty of choice and empty tables to choose from.
Tip: people queue outside the door prior to opening, especially at lunchtime.
We did struggle to get a drink at the bar. The bar staff seemed to disappear whenever they were required.
They river frontage is lovely and although the official car park is small, there is off road parking on the little lane in front of the building. It does get very busy, especially on a Sunday lunch.

Word of mouth has spread the word about the Town House carvery. If you want a fast carvery at very reasonable prices then this is the place for you. A limited menu and a regimented ordering and ticket system at the bar is the norm, but a roast carvery for £4.99 and add a drink from the selection available for around £5.79 inclusive per adult, and it certainly fits the bill if you are on a budget. The self service vegetable area from the hot counter can sometimes become less appetising, with vegetables overspilling from some of the over zealous diners plates being overloaded. That aside, the roast meats on offer at the time, (Beef, Turkey and Gammon) were excellent and the vegetables were plentiful and well cooked. If you want a quick roast meal and don't want to spend too much, this should do the trick. Plenty table spaces, nice views over the river, very little waiting and parking available off the road.

Set right on the river, the views from the restaurant are serene and peaceful. There is outdoor seating in the well maintained garden that runs from the restaurant to the river, though the fixed bench style seating may not fit everyone's comfort requirement.

Good parking too.

The restaurant itself is very clean and well laid out, and one never feels crowded even when all the tables are full, though at high traffic times the queues to get a meal ticket and drinks, and then the meal, can be tiresome.

The meal is superb value. A Carvery with a choice of 4 or 5 meats, and unlimited vegetables. I've never been in here when the veggies didn't appear freshly done; there's none of that tired old feeling you can get with some other carveries. And at less than £4 a plate, the value is very high. Plenty of gravy, mustard, horse radish and cranberry too. It can be quite the blow out! There's no compromise in quality to get this price, that's what is so surprising.

There's table service for dessert and drinks too.
