“Perfect start to an afternoon at the theatre”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

We managed to get a seat in the bar, even though we hadn't booked the first time, and the waitress couldn't have been more helpful and quick. We had a delicious soup and sandwich lunch and got off to the theatre in good time.
Our second visit with friends was just as good. We booked a table in the main restaurant which is spacious and comfortable, and explained we were going to the theatre. The service was excellent, staff were friendly and very efficient, and our lunch was extremely tasty, and good value for the standard and quantity

“Lovely place to eat”
Reviewed February 17, 2013 via mobile

My friend and I are always looking for new places to eat in Norwich and decided to try the Assembly House. We didn't think to book, 1st mistake, and the place was very busy. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful, there was no space in the restaurant but she suggested that we take a place in the hall. This was lovely, the setting is gorgeous, very gentile, and we got to people watch. One of our priorities is to have plenty of time to catch up and share a bottle of wine, lots of restaurants will only give you a couple of hours. So we had a lovely lunch - sandwich and soup, we shared a bottle of wine and generally had a really lovely time. Having watched the afternoon teas going into the restaurant I would definitely go back to try the tea.

“Excellent lunch”
Reviewed February 16, 2013 via mobile

A good lunch excellent service, however the pancakes were served cold. Pity they were good but even when sent back they were still only Luke warm.

The restaurant is however generally good and afternoon tea is really excellent

“Good food, good service”
Reviewed February 7, 2013

We often call to this restaurant, as it has a very grand looking dinning room and bar area, the meals are served to a high standard, been A 'la Carte choice of menu, or a 2 & 3 course option.
The staff are very pleasant and friendly, booking is recommended, but we have on several occasion called, and was seated straight away, even when looking busy, there is a good choice of ales and wines.
The prices are very good, for quality that you receive in your choice.
The bar is next to the restaurant, a very pleasant area, to sit and relax in.
Overall i would recommend this to couples, families and groups.
Also it is nearly next to the Theatre Royal, so you can have a Pre-theatre meal, with not far to walk.

“Wonderful food”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

Have eaten here several times, they are always accommodating of my husbands wheel chair and seat us close to the entrance.
The foodies varied with reasonable pricing.
The surroundings are first class and to ensure that we are not disappointed when we go into Norwich, we always book a table in advance
