The most convenient reason to stay at Broadview is if you have business on campus. But if you have any choice, esp. in the summer, find another location. Though outside temperatures at night were a comfortable 62-64 degrees c., it was unbearably hot and stuffy in the room (3rd floor facing west). The fan made little difference and my stay was extremely uncomfortable. There is no way to adjust temperature in the room and no way to find relief. Campus food is...well...campus food. Norwich is such a lovely town and if you have a choice, find different lodging in the summer and eat off campus. It's not difficult to get a bus or taxi to and from town to campus. The campus is lovely(though construction activity was everywhere) and there are good walks around the river. Also lots of rabbits on campus esp. at dusk and early morning. Whimsical...but, when you are sleep deprived from lack of comfortable sleep, it makes little difference.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments - we really do appreciate all feedback from our guests. Unfortunately we are unable to install air conditioning to Broadview Lodge which does mean that on exceptionally sunny days the rooms can become hot. Usually this resolves itself when the sun sets, but if it is a hot, close night, then the fan provided in the bedroom becomes an essential. We also have fans cooling the main corridors during very warm weather.
Reception staff will be pleased to supply extra fans (subject to availability) upon request.

I stayed at Broadview Lodge for a weekend conference and had extended my stay for a few extra nights to enjoy the city. Upon booking, the staff were very friendly and professional. The location was convenient for the conference that was held on campus, and it was easy to jump on and off the 25 bus to get to and from the city center which was only about 20 minutes away. The rooms are kept clean as there is a daily cleaning service, and it is nice to come back to a sorted room after a long day. However, the bed and pillows were very uncomfortable and during the summer the rooms had poor air circulation, which made it nearly impossible to get a good nights sleep. Additionally, the WiFi is terrible, which was frustrating in terms of getting any preparation done for the conference. The BTOpenZone that is offered is extremely expensive, and even when an overpriced pass is purchased, my devices did not seem to stay connected to the network for more than a couple minutes. Other conference attendees noted similar frustrations with the service. Eventually, I just gave up on trying to connect, and I had wasted valuable time as well as a good amount of money for limited internet access. The breakfasts are decent, though a short walk away. Overall, I would only recommend staying here if you are on a tight student budget and need to be on campus.

Thank you for taking time to post your comments. I am happy to advise that we now have free wi-fi available to all of our guests. Our IT department at the university just need to be advised of guests' e-mail adresses so that user names and passwords maybe sent prior to visits. I am sure that this will be a most welcome development for all guests.

A wonderful weekend at UEA was spoilt by the unbearable temperature in the room! Even though it wasn't too hot outside, the room was so hot and stuffy that it was impossible to sleep. The fan provided in the room does not make any difference, and so you lie in bed feeling as if you're being boiled alive. Being able to open the window more than 3 cm would certainly help to get some fresh air circulating, but in the name of health and safety this is not possible. Please use some common sense - most adults are unlikely to hurl themselves out of the window, but they are very unlikely to return for another roasting!

Room Tip: Don't go in summer!

Thank you for taking the time to post your review.
All guest feedback is very important to us and I am so sorry that your sleep was disturbed due to the heat of the room. Fans are supplied for guests comfort but unfortunately it is a health and safety objective to limit window opening. Due to our university campus location, we often have groups of young guests staying with us to visit different faculties and so it is important that we maintain a duty of care to these young guests. I am sorry that this had a negative impact on your stay with us.

Much nicer than a Travelodge, the room had nice little touches like a runner and matching cushions on the bed. Luxury biscuits with a wide selection of teas and coffee. It was a very hot day but there was a good fan in the room which kept us cool all night.
Reception staff were exceptionally helpful- even emailing the bus route changes (due to Lord Mayor's Procession) information. Out of term time so Campus was beautifully peaceful and quiet, just the rabbits & wildlife plus a few international students. Breakfast was served at the new INTO building as we stayed on a Saturday (when the usual Campus Kitchen is closed). It was a generous breakfast, you could have fruit and yoghurt or cereal AND toast or croissants AND english breakfast plus fruit juice or tea & coffee. The quality was average but the fact such a huge breakfast was included was really good value. The campus is about a 20 minute bus ride from the city but even out of term the 25 buses leave every half an hour. Would definitely stay again, although perhaps not during term-time as the accommodation is above the student social area/kitchens. UEA is a beautiful and safe campus University and we had a lovely stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Congregation Hall rather than over the student kitchens as this will be mu...

I have very mixed feelings about Broadview Lodge where I stayed during a conference at the University of East Anglia. First, the staff are wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. I was given assistance with bus bookings and other inquiries were handled professionally and pleasantly. Thank you! Secondly, the accommodation is very average. I was not surprised to be given a single room, because the lodge is really student digs with a few add-ons. However, so much more could be done with the space. A coat of paint, and simple, updated furniture and decor could transform the place from a bit tawdry to smart. Work needs to be done on air circulation, because the ever-present smell of stale food (in the hallways) is a bit off-putting. I expected noisy students and there was noise! But it usually subsided after midnight. Thirdly, the cost of WiFi. Why charge people 10 pounds for 24 hours? The charge drew criticism from conference attendees who were staying at Broadview. Fourthly, breakfasts were good, especially in the campus cafe close to the lodge (weekend breakfasts weren't as good). Would I stay there again? Not an easy decision, but probably no. Norwich is a bus ride away (or a taxi) and I'd rather spend my money on them instead of being over-charged for WiFi.

Room Tip: At least one room has a double bed. Ask about WiFi and breakfast charges. I gave Location a 4, bu...

Thank you for taking the time to post your review.
Broadview Lodge staff are always happy to help with any queries and understand the importance of offering an excellent guest service.
It is hoped that Broadview Lodge rooms and public areas will be decorated and repainted within the coming months.
Sadly, we are unable to offer free unlimited wi-fi due to the terms and conditions of UEA internet suppliers, but we are delighted to introduce a policy of offering guests an initial free 90 minutes internet use if requested upon check in.
We hope that despite your concerns, you will come back to see us in the future.

This is within the very beautiful campus of the University of East Anglia and, unless you were going to visit a student (as I did last week) you might never know about it. That said, it is a fair way from the centre of Norwich but buses are frequent (although quite expensive at £2.40 a journey) and taxis plentiful and often cheaper than the bus, if there are two of you: £6:00 from the hotel to the centre.

The accommodation is basic but works. En-suite bathroom, toiletries, flat-screen television, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, biscuits, hairdryer. They offer breakfast but I went to the student canteen on site where you can buy either, for example, a full English breakfast, or individual items thereof! I had an excellent sausage which, I think, was 70p and came from a local farm. There is also an excellent Co-op on site, various cafes, a bank, post office and bookshops. I understand that one can also use the gym and the Bernard Matthews (almost) Olympic pool! Apparently, this was built to Olympic lengths but they did not take account of the thickness of the tiles, so it is about half an inch too short.

The hotel overlooks the wonderful landscaped campus. The architecture of the University is fairly brutal 1960s but it occupies the site of a former golf course, so there are wonderful walks and runs, especially around the lake. The staff at the hotel could not be more helpful. It costs only £60 per night (£48 if you are visiting a student) and I would have happily stayed there for much longer.

I have stayed here twice. The rooms are a great size -they have the advantage of a fridge and a large selection of teas and coffees for guests to use. The heating is controllable and there is a fan provided in case it gets stuffy. The staff are absolutely brilliant and very accommodating. The breakfast at INTO is very good with all drinks and a full buffet breakfast included.

The rooms are situated above the halls of residence at UEA but this is not an issue as when the windows are closed there is no noise issue even at the busiest of times. The is a co-op and a bar on the campus which take about three minutes to walk to which is very handy if you have forgotten any essentials.

The UEA busses operate regularly between the campus and the city centre - they are fairly cheap and very convenient to use. If necessary taxis are easy to find and are cheap in comparison to London.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. I disagree very strongly with some of the reviews here as I am very picky when it comes to cleanliness service and comfort. I had no issues with these aspects when I stayed at this hotel.

Room Tip: The family rooms are an excellent size
