“An amazing place to celebrate”
Reviewed December 19, 2011 for a stay in December 2011

I have just spent the weekend at Hill House for my 40th birthday and it was fantastic, I knew it would be great but it was so much more. The house was so well presented and there were so many great finishing touches, from the arrival drinks and chocolates to the Candy Canes dotted about. My shopping had been delivered in advance and had been beautifully arranged too. We had a group of adults and kids from 1-10 years and the house accomodated us well, I loved the pinball machine whilst the kids couldn't decide whether they prefered the Playstation2 & pool room or the room with the supersized TV in it and the great collection of up to date DVD's to choose from.
We used Dunston Hall which was nice and relaxing but other than that we just chilled at the house, the owners have a huge selection of leaflets on things to do in the area though and there is a lot for families around so I hope to return for a week in the summer.

“Fantastic house, great rural location and a warm welcome”
Reviewed November 20, 2011 for a stay in November 2011

The Hill House team were really accomodating and welcoming. The house is well geared up for entertaining groups of all ages - and we certainly made the most of the table tennis table, pool table, fantastic music and film collection etc. There is lots of information on local things of interest, and we enjoyed country walks, local pub trips, swmming at the Leisure centre and excellent fine dining at Relish, who were as friendly as the Hill House team. The decor and finish of the house are of a really high standard - its obviously been loving restored! - the cleaniness exemplary, and everything has been thought of to make our stay a really memorable experience.

“Hill House - the perfect place to get ready on your wedding day!”
Reviewed November 13, 2011 for a stay in September 2011

We stayed at Hill House for the week of our wedding and it was everything that we had hoped for - actually it was more! Hill House is big and spacious, very well furnished and has excellent facilities. The kitchen is incredibly cosy with a gorgeous aga. There is a beautiful garden and tennis court to enjoy. We loved our stay and I felt so lucky to have found somewhere that was so comfortable and homely for the morning of my wedding day. The service that you get from the housekeeper and owner is something that we have not had before when staying at a holiday house. They really were amazing and made our stay so personal. Hill House rocks!

Clare - thanks so much for taking the time to review us. We love it that you think "Hill House rocks". Ben told us all that he saw you rehearsing your first dance on the lawn with the B&O rock speakers pumping out the music. Excellent!!!

“Wow, what a find!”
Reviewed October 18, 2011 for a stay in September 2011

We spent a wonderful weekend at Hill House to celebrate my parents golden wedding anniversary. There were 8 adults, 5 teenagers and 1 dog. We had a great time which wes made even better with the glorioius weather. Hill House does not dissapoint....starting with the wonderful drive up to the house, the five star decor, the well equipped kitchen and games that kept everyone - young and old - entertained. The sound system is out of this world (apologies again to the neighbours when we inadvertently switched on the music around the pond during the evening! )
The welcome pack of groceries was a very thoughful touch especially the home grown rhubarb and all the ingredients (including custard) to make a crumble.
Ben was incredibly helpful before we arrived and it was good to meet Darren both on arrival and again on departure.
A truly magical weekend and we hope to return one day.

Thank you for the review Tracy. It's music to our ears that you had a 'magical weekend'- this is why we are doing this. We love our rhubarb crumble too. Michelle who works at Hill House is a demon cook and it's her recipe - just a shame that our rhubarb season has ended!

“An absolutely fabulous property”
Reviewed October 18, 2011 for a stay in October 2011

The house has been removated to very high standard throughout and has a great layout to relax and enjoy our friends company. Ben the Hall manager was attentive before hand and when we were at the house, ensuring our stay was as successful as possible,The kitchen is well stocked and easy to use with an aga and an oven, the breakfast table meant people could eat at their leisure, whereas the dining room was perfect for a large get together evening meal. The table tennis, tennis court, pinball, pool table etc were use extensively giving an extra dimension to the weekend. The property is well sited to two fabulous restaurants, Relish and The Wildebeest which served excellent food and added the final touch to an amazing location. The icing on my birthday cake was the on-site Archery which Ben the Hall Manager organised, which was extremely good fun. The Hall was recommended to us and we hope we will be back to enjoy the facilities again.

“A wonderful house looked after so well by owner and manager.”
Reviewed October 11, 2011 for a stay in October 2011

12 of us just spent three nights in this wonderful house.Everything we needed was provided, all things were of the highest quality, all bed linen from The White Company. We could have spent all our time at the house, fab garden, tennis court, gym equipment, snooker, an amazing music system.Ben the manager most helpful.Local restaurant Relish did some of our catering, their welcome pack was more than excellent. All our party paid same amount of money we drew lots for the rooms, you need to do this. Two of rooms are more than AMAZING, other two on first floor are super rooms. Four poster room, bed more suitable for single occupancy, room also quite small. On entering house it will take your breath away, every single thing we needed was provided. We will definitely be going back.

Thank you for coming to stay and your wonderful review. Our 4 poster bed is the real deal - it's an original 17th century 4 poster and will only take a standard double mattress. As you know we love mixing old and new so we were able to have the brand new beds made up as super-kings.....thanks again and we look forward to seeing you soon.

“Heavenly Hill House, what a find.”
Reviewed August 13, 2011 for a stay in August 2011

A fabulous Grade 2 listed house in Norfolk. Would it survive a 5 day encounter with my wife and I, our three children, their partners, their six children and our elderly dog who admittedly hasn't chewed up a kitchen table for two years. Fantastic. The house is a mixture of fine art, fixtures and fitting blended with a great range of functional, quality furniture and is a match for any youthful, energetic group.
The garden provides total privacy and in the absence of beach weather we enjoyed endless games of Tennis, Rounders and Football on the lawn and nature trails throughout the grounds.
The house provides near 5 star hotel accommodation with every facility you could desire together with superbly equipped living space. The Aga was Mmmmmm and so easy to use. Not so the B & O TV/Audio system. I'm sure the off button was there somewhere.
As were are a family of budding Jamie Oliver's, we didn't experience the delights of the local gastronomic services which judging by Visitor Book comments would have been superb.
On the down side, Dunston Hall Health Club was a little tired and there was no hand whisk in the kitchen for my fluffy omelettes. There is now...........
Can't wait to find another excuse to visit this year.
