The castle keep is an enormous space and during our visit had a christmas tree and childrens activities going on but it was still possible to get the impact of the historical building. The rest of the museum was well designed and informative but not stuffy.

There is so much to see here in this wonderful building. Lots of displays and exhibitions plus a very good dungeon! We were luck enough to see a travelling exhibition of work by Bridget Riley some time ago. If you can go between 4-5pm for a short look round you can get in at a reduced price. The surrounding gardens are also very pleasant, and the whole thing is, of course, right in the centre of town.

There are so much going on in the castle. My husband and I enjoyed all the exhibition and the little video presentation was brilliant, really gives you a good idea about the background the different part of the castle, Well worth a visit.

The weather was typical November dank and cold. So as we had the day to spare the museum seemed an obvious choice in the morning.
However we became so engrossed that we were still there as the museum was on the point of closing.
The natural history exhibits are extremely wide ranging and very well presented.
The art displays and historical displays by the Norfolk school of painters are well worth viewing.
The number of children's parties on a learning day out appeared to be having an excellent experience.
