“Run Down and seen better days”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

I live in Norwich and have frequented this street for many years both working and for pleasure. It has many fine georgian buildings but converted into cheapo or charity shops. Many down and outs frequent the area. There are a couple of nice real ale pubs though. Part way down the street is the 1960s monstrosaty that is Angia Square if you have never been dont bother, rough run down and full of 99pence shops it is over due for demolition

“Stroll”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

The place is in need of refurb to make it appealing for all to shop. I also do not find it safe walking there alone.....late afternoon; so forget the evening time.

“A neglected area”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

I live locally, and have to say that if I didnt live near it... this is not a street I would venture down.

There are some interesting shops, the old looses building has a couple of floors of antiques and bric a brac, and there are one or two other shops of interest, including several charity shops and quite a few restaurants (which are predominantly open in the evenings only. There are also several asian food shops - Miahs is a good one.

However, there are also many shops which are closed, and the general impression a stranger might get, it that it is not worth walking any further, since many of the disused buildings are looking very tired and run down.

Sadly, its a one way street, so it is not seen by people leaving the city, and the multi storey car park above anglia square is partially closed (I think due to safety issues). There is however a land car park (St Saviours, under the flyover) and two more to the rear of Anglia square. There are bus stops in the street though, which is a bonus.

Overall, I would not say this is an attraction, its just a tired little street with, admittedly, some interesting shops. Off the beaten track for those visiting the city centre, you won't be missing out on too much if you gave it a miss.

Loved the bargains to be had at Loose's a trip out in itself. Plus...great pubs and restaurants...particularly liked the tapas in the little Spanish restaurant near the bridge.....yum
