This was the third time I have stayed at the Maids Head and each time I have been impressed with the service from staff and comfort offered by the Hotel. Great spacious rooms, clean and comfortable. Complimentary bottled water, great pillows! The communal rooms are well furnished and the bar is a good place to sit and enjoy the service and wines. Well positioned in town with parking. Everything is within walking distance with a comprehensive shopping area, excellent choices in restaurants and bars. Will be back no doubt of that!

For some time when visiting Norwich we have stayed elsewhere,as the Maids Head was quite shocking when we last visited.
This despite an affinity for the place going back over 40 yrs.
Last week however, our usual place was closed for refurbishment,so why not give the Maids Head another go.
All the above is to let people who have been disappointed in the past know that they can safely try again now a (relatively) new owner has taken charge
The position is ideal (in the City centre, opposite the Cathedral, close to many cafes and restaurants, close to the eclectic shops of the old town),and there is adequate parking.
The staff are superb, both in the hotel and in the restaurant (the Winepress);friendly, professional, and willing to provide assistance above and beyond.
The hotels communal areas are most comfortable;the bar is absolutely gorgeous - very inviting, serving bar meals and with a really good choice of wines (if not beers - a strange weak spot)
The restaurant is excellent in every way,and well worth a try.
We had a standard room which was precisely that;adequate, but not much more.It was clean and quite well provided, but small and with odd deficiencies;bottled water is now standard in most places, and the shower was poor, with poor levels of bathroom consumables (including no shower cap)
That said,it is a place we would/will happily return to.

Room Tip: Upgrade if you can afford to;try to avoid being above the air con generator (or whatever it was)

Dear jhallyday,

Thank you for your positive review. There is nothing that gives the team more satisfaction than improving upon a previous visit. We have just had a 3rd Ale pump installed and are reviewing our bottled beers so we hope to have a wider selection next time you visit. My apologies for the absence of bottled water - it should have been present in your room. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Kind Regards

We, an ex military "Comrades Society", recently held a full weekend function for some 75 of our members from across the UK and as far afield as Hong Kong, all staying at The Maids Head. Not only did the Hotel serve as our base for the weekend, but also the venue for our biennial reunion dinner-dance on the Saturday of our visit. The function was some 10 months in the planning with superb support and advice from the Hotel throughout. Arranged to our specific wishes, the event was superbly organised, managed and executed. The management and staff of the Maids Head went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating and were a genuine pleasure to deal with throughout our stay. I can only recommend the Maids Head to anyone planning a simple weekend in Norwich to a more elaborate major function.

Room Tip: Simply tell the hotel the type of room you require and, where possible, they will meet your wishes.

I thought I'd just get in touch to say that once again we had a wonderful time at The Maids Head Hotel and I am sure the committee next year will return again. The room and food were excellent and staff polite and helpful, Bruno was a particular highlight and brought the right humour to a group of students. Andrew was fantastic, perpetually patient and always on hand to help out and again the humour he brought to our interactions was perfect for such an event.
Once again thank you for all your help and I am sure you will be hearing from the Tri-Racket committee again next year.

From the moment we looked around The Maids Head Hotel 14 months ago we knew we were in safe hands. From booking our wedding, to our fantastic tasting menu, meetings with Amy-Jane and our Chef were always organised and flexible. We were able to change, alter and adapt our wedding package to suit us and our guests.

We felt we got 'a lot' of wedding for our money and were so very well looked after from check in to check out and beyond! I will never be able to put into words how truly professional, helpful and downright wonderful all of the staff were! This hotel has a wonderfully relaxed and enchanting atmosphere and it is clear staff are happy in their jobs and always go the extra mile!

On the day all of our 50 guests commented on how delicious the food was and how fabulous the atmosphere was in the Minstrel Suite. We wouldn't change a minute of our day, photographs at the Cathedral too all part of the package!

While we organised a huge amount of our wedding ourselves the staff at The Maids Head were truly wonderful in setting out our hand crafted wedding tables, sweet buffet and displays.

The rooms are beautiful, as Bride I was able to stay in two suites during the stay, The Cathedral and Filby. Waking up on the morning of our wedding and overlooking Norwich Cathedral and blue skies is something I will never forget!

The staff looked after us and our families perfectly, even locating a chair for the bathroom to help my father with bathing if needed. Truly wonderful.

My new husband and I will always hold The Maids Head close in our heart and will visit regularly as our 'special place'. Having had dinners, lunches and afternoon teas here over the past year we have always been blown away by how smiley all the staff are! A truly wonderful, relaxing ambiance in this hotel that has so much more to offer than tea and coffee making facilities! The Oldest Hotel in England with Ghosts - what more do you want for a talking point!

Truly wonderful. Stay here. Its fantastic.

Room Tip: Queen Elizabeth Suite has a fantastic lower bath for guests with mobility issues. The Cathedral Suit...

We decided to take a three night break in Norwich as it was a part of the country we had not visited. The Maids Head proved to be an excellent choice as it was very central with some wonderful restaurants close by. We went to the the Indian across the road, a Spanish Restaurant Bar about 80 yards away and treated ourself to the tasting menu in the hotels own Winepress Restaurant over the three evenings. All three meals were well above average and thoroughly enjoyed. The hotel breakfast was equally impressive and the service from the Reception desk and the restaurant first class. Car parking was available and convenient and if we go back to Norwich again the Maids Head will be our obvious choice.
