Deer's Glade Caravan & Camping Park
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 4, 2011

Unfortuantely I cant say that our stay at Deer Glades was at all good, having just returned and upon reflection we were not treated well at all...

The campsite does not have outlines or rules implememnted upon arrival to campers. We stayed from Wednesday to Saturday(supposed to be Sunday)and we were invaded 'litterally' by another family during our stay.. We were told upon arrival to park and pitch on the green field at the back of the site - anywhere? We could have therefore pitched right infront of someone elses tent if we wanted to. As we arrived on the Wednesday people had already pitched up and with us timing it during term time there werent alot of children about so all in all the first couple of days werent to bad other than we would have liked more choice of where to pitch as it was very limited. on the Firday there were a turn around in visitors and the people next to us (very respectful and kind) had gone and we ventrued out for the day... upon our return two families (all together 10 people 2 tents) had truned up next to us - pitched their tent 10 cm away from ours and proceded to be loud, invade our space and other peoples, be rude, play games - hit their ball at our car / tent / next doors tent and generally just be selfish and a neusance to everyone else. This obvioulsy disturbed alot of people and towards the end of the evening when myself and my partner had put up with it all evening we said something to them about their behaviour. At this point they got angry and an arguement arose - in response to this we phoned the number on the door of reception (which was shut most of the time) and we had no help from anyone - we were told to go back to bed and come to reception in the morning.... Which we did and were not helped in anyway by anyone! We explained what had happened but the gentlemen we spoke to didnt seem bothered and offered to move us - which we didnt want to do on our last day for one last night, so we asked to leave and he was very happy with this - gave us our money back and we left... We had no sleep the night before and I had to drive home tired and particularly unhappy that our break had been ruined. Deer Galdes is not catered for any othe rpeorson othe rthan families - the facilities are definately not amazing, the staff are bad, there are no pitch plots for campers - its like a festival... Whether you are there to have a quite break or not there is no choice of atmosphere - you just have to put up with whats around you and who ever decides to pitch up in front of you or next to you. You are only allowed in and out the park at 07.00 and before 23.00 - no watch8ing the sun rise from the sea front and no late night partying or anything - imprisoned between these times - something not really visable when booking....

All in all Deer Glades is over rated - probably perfect for selfish loud families looking for overated fields of grass.

Definately would never return and would definately put off any couple from setting foot on this site unless they had grey hair and loved to caravan...... OVERPRICED AND SUCH A BAD EXPERIENCE!

I stayed here in May with friends and this place was a delight. Easy to get to and very good staff. We were looking for a bit of fun as well as a nice relaxing camping trip. Whilst the atmosphere is very family based and there were some great family features like goats and swings etc we didnt feel uncomfortable cracking open some beers and letting loose. Because of the 11pm curfew it seems to be well adhered to which makes the place suitable for all. There is a great little fishing lake where you can sit all day fishing, it is well stocked and popular so grab a pitch. The washroom facilities were excellent, good showers and no waiting around. All in all I really rate this site for people of all ages and interests.

Great site with ultra friendly staff. I think it's family run. Cleanest toilet block, with floor heating! Laundrette cheaper than at home, and the shop is normal price too. Good sized pitches and an 11pm to 7am quiet time policy!

Surrounded by woodland and near to many good places to visit.
