We were given a PIN code to gain access to the front door of the building and our room but we couldn't get in as the front door code was DIFFERENT to the bedroom code!Luckily another resident had the same issue and he gave us the code. I specifically requested a room with a shower and when I telephoned and spoke to MJB who run these apartments/rooms and I was told ''all our rooms have showers''. When I got into the room I found it had just a bath and not even a shower attachment. The toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall and the bathroom floor could do with a good clean. The mattress had seen better days as the springs were at the top of the mattress and you could feel then when lying on it! The light in the bathroom didn't work and one of the bedroom lights didn't work!
Not impressed at all - I have written to MJB with an email complaint and not had a response yet.

This hotel was taken over by another company called MJB after we had booked the rooms, and they clearly were not prepared for guests to stay at the hotel! The doors did not have keys instead they had code entry, which would be fine if you were given the right code! Also, it helps if when you order a double room you get it instead of a single one...

There is no check in desk, and no staff on site, which meant we got some money off of the booking, however it also meant that the "in case of emergency" number was a mobile number, which was our only contact number for them to try and get them to give us a working code. They didn't answer for about 15 minutes, and when they did it was another 15, maybe more before we got given a code that worked!

As if that wasn't enough, we were charged twice for the booking despite my poor friend having many conversations regarding payment during the week before hand! It was disgusting to be treated like this and made what should have been a fun weekend away with friends become a stressful 3 days. I would recommend everybody steer clear of anything managed by this company - they haven't got a clue.

We choose to stay at The LangtryRooms because of the proximity to the people ergo to Norwich to visit

In the past, our experience has been good, but this last stay has proved to be a major disappointment.

There is now no breakfast included in the price but you are expected to eat and pay extra at The Mulberry. If The Mulberry is open for breakfast to the general public, it would cost the management pennies to include breakfast.

Unlike previous reviewers, there was a remote, but the batteries were flat. The TV was up so high and so tiny, you needed to squint to see it. There was no shower in the bathroom (just a bath), but I was told by my partner that we were paying less because of that. Hmmm.

The clincher for me was the broken door lock. It wouldn't open from the inside. Partner noticed it the first night so we made sure it was snipped but the second night, we both forgot. The following morning we were packed and ready to check out and discovered we couldn't get out of the room. With no phone service in the room, we had to use our personal mobiles (lucky we had those with us) and phoned mobile numbers (lucky my call plan has lots of free minutes) to find someone who could phone someone to come let us out. What if there'd been a fire?

I wouldn't say the Langtry Rooms is the family-friendly place it used to be. There were lots of comings and goings throughout the night. So much so that it reminded me of a stay at a Formule One hotel - only three times the price.

I'll be looking into alternative places to stay for our next visit. Pity, because it's been nice to walk from our friends place back to the hotel.

Do not stay here. I checked in on a Thursday night at the bar (there is no reception in the hotel) and then walked over the road to the hotel. I stayed in room 21. The bed was hard with a very thin matress, there was no TV remote, there were hairs in the sink in the bathroom and there was no where in the bathroom to hang up a towel.

I made a complaint at the bar and whilst the female manager was apologetic and offered to come and clean the room for me, I was told that I could just get out of bed and walk across the room and change the channel on the TV rather than using the remote! Not exactly what I wanted when I had paid $40 pounds for one night.

There are much nicer B&B's and Hotels in Norwich, so my advice is do not stay here. There was supposed to be free wireless but it didnt connect. As there is no reception at the hotel, if there are any issues at night you have to go over to the bar or call a telephone number off site. I personally didnt feel very safe.

One good thing about this, the food at the pub was great.

We booked room Number 3, the family room sleeping 6 with double bed and 2 bunks for £75.00 for the night on Sat 25th Sept. After reading the reviews for this place which were so varied it was difficult to know to expect!
We checked in at the Langtry Pub over the road, which was no problem whatsoever.
The staff at the pub were very friendly and helpful, explained how to gain access to our room and what discounts were availbale to us.
We found our room which had a seperate external entrance to the rest of the hotel. We walked in off a small decked courtyard area into the main double bedroom which was large, clean and tidy, down the corridor you have an ample sized showerroom with double shower, basin and loo, further down the corridor the room opens up into a large living room/bedroom with 2 massive purpose built bunk beds! The room was clean and tidy, with towels provided which some reviews said were not!
We were more than pleased with the room. The 5 of us had plenty of room to get ready that night and at £15.00 per person we could not grumble. Our only complaint was there was no full length mirror which is a must for a group of girls!
The hotel is more like a 10 minute walk to the shopping centre, but it is a nice walk on a dry day! It was very wet during our 24hrs in Norwich so we made full use of taxi's.
We ate in the Langtry Pub over the road that night, the pizzas were amazing, but the reviews had alway complimented the pub anyway so this was no suprise.
The hotel was a little noisy that night/early hours of sunday morning and it made staying asleep a little difficult, (though the alcohol helped) there was a girl arguing on the phone outside our door, someone throwing up and people coming back from being out all night! The hotel can not be held responsible for this!
On leaving our room at 10.00am we took the short stroll down to the sister restaurant of the Langtry Pub, the Mulberry for our breakfast. Very nice chabby chic place where we all tucked into a full english with plenty of tea to boot.
All in all a fantastic experince of the Langtry Rooms and Pub.
I would stay here again and recommend it to friends.

We checked in over the road at the Langtry pub and found the staff friendly and helpful. The rooms, in a separate building, had a kind of Marie Celste quality - deserted. However, once we found our allocated room we were pleasantly surprised but the cleanliness, en-suite, flat screen tv, tea/coffee facilities.

We slept badly but only because it was Saturday night in Norwich and a lot of Norwich was out and getting drunk, but it was entertaining. We had been asked to return the key to the pub by 10 am the next morning, but it was closed and it was a bit worrying to just put it through the letter box.

I really noticed the lack of shower gel and shampoo, and as if by magic outside the door the next morning was a mini bottle of shampoo - and a spoon ....

For a cheap night's accommodation this place was fine - if you want the personal touch of a b&b forget it, but for a functional, clean room, its fine

We enjoyed our stay, had a good size room, (26) clean nice crisp white cotton sheets, comfortable bed, plenty of pillows, with heaters in room and bathroom. The only slight disappointment was that there wasn't an opening window, although we could open a fire door to air the room, and there was no remote control available for the T.V, but, situated within walking distance to town centre , and parking , it was good value for the money we paid.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
There is good reasonbly priced food avaiable at the Langtry Cafe Bar, with a 15% discount if you are staying, and is very handy across the road.
Although there was no breakfast available at the Langtry Cafe/Bar, we had a nice breakfast (Not included in price) at the 103 Bistro/Cafe just 2mins walk away.
We would certainly stay there again.
