“Great Hotel Excellent Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2010

We booked the Stracey hotel after reading the good reviews it had been receiving on tripadvisor. We came with family and booked 3 rooms. All of us were very happy with cleanliness and facilities in the rooms, what stood out was they were tastefully decorated with a modern feel. The Service was great and the staff looked after all of us extremely well everyone was very easy going and professional.

The good bits. Very clean nice decor. Not so good bits .Ok to stay there not sure if price is right, perhaps I am a bit tight. Perhaps I am being a bit picky but leave you to judge. Parking can be nightmare. If you find a space opposite the hotel then guard it with your life. I booked two rooms one for us and one for my mum. We fell asleep with the TV on, sorry our mistake but it was not up loud. We were then waken at around 4 am by a staff member banging and I mean banging on our door asking us to turn tv off as room next door couldn't sleep [thin walls eh ) perhaps a phone call wud have been better.grrrrrr. Breakfast ok, and where do they get those shortest sausages in the world from.

We stayed for one night at Straceys Hotel, it is clean and comfortable and tastefully decorated. We may have been unlucky but found parking a real problem. One side of the road is permit holders only and the other side short stay until between 6.30pm and 8am. We drove round the block so many times waiting for a place to park. There is a large car park nearby which is reasonably priced but your ticket will expire at 12 midnight which means you have to be back with your car to buy another ticket by midnight, not at all convenient if you are wanting to stay out late!
The staff were very friendly and 'laid back' but did not give a 'proffessional' impression.
Breakfast was ok but not the best..
Overall the hotel was ok but it felt as though something special was missing, not sure what it was but I would not stay there again.

I use this hotel at weekends for occasional visits to Norwich....

It's very convenient for the railway station and town centre.

Staff are pleasant and helpful and they do a good breakfast....

My partner and I stayed at the Stracey Hotel in Norwich for one night. The location of the hotel is fantastic, you are walking distance to the main shops and restaurants and the river. The hotel was clean and tidy, the staff were friendly and welcoming. My only issue was the room that we had, it was at the back of the hotel with a frosted window looking onto a wall next door, there was a skylight in the room which was right over the bed, it was like having a spot light on you as soon as the sun came up. There were tea and coffee facilities in the room but only enough milk for one drink each. The bathroom was compact but fit for the purpose, the shower was fab and so were the small toiletries that were left in the room. Breakfast wasnt great, I cannot eat Wheat, Eggs or Dairy. There was a limit amount of fresh fruit, everything was wheat based, I could only have bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms. For the price of the room £85 for the two of us, im not sure if it was value for money. I think if it was more like £65 then I would have been happier.

We had a ground floor room with spacious bathroom, flat screen TV and lots of little extra touches. Excellant breakfast and the dinner was particularly good. The chef really presents the food well and everything is freshly cooked to order. No off road parking but plenty of parking on the road right outside and a huge car park nearby.

Greeted by friendly and courteous staff on arrival. Room was a good size and immaculately clean. Everything modern and tasteful. Had evening meal there on both nights as the menu was reasonably priced and varied. Bar staff very friendly nothing was too much trouble.

We would happily stay here again.
