“Really couldn't have been better”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

Choosing the Arrandale Guest Lodge for my one-night stay in Norwich turned my business trip to the University into a quite unexpected little holiday! When I arrived early after a long trip, Olga sat me down with fresh coffee on a comfortable sofa until my room (twin en suite) was ready. The room was immaculately decorated and cleaned, with all sorts of lovely extra touches, including a bathrobe. The bed was incredibly comfortable; the next morning, after a thoroughly peaceful night, I was offered a tempting range of hot and cold breakfast choices - I can highly recommend Maurice's cheese omelettes. Olga and Maurice really go out of their way to provide a thoroughly professionally managed and yet very warm and welcoming place to stay. In addition, Arrandale is ideally located - right next to the bus route between the rail station, city centre and the University, and a very pleasant 15 minute's stroll to the campus along a wide, tree-lined pavement. Really, what more could you ask for?

We stayed there when taking our son to university (just down the road). We had the fourposter bedroom which was just perfect for three, although the single bed would probably not suit anyone over 6ft. Safe parking in the drive. The owners couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Substantial cooked breakfast included, if wished. Highly recommended.

I booked this B&B mainly based on TripAdvisor reviews, and they were spot on. I stayed in the African room for 7 nights in September 2013, while my daughter settled in at the UEA. The room and en suite were spotless, and the bed was really comfortable. There was no traffic noise at all. Maurice and Olga were great hosts, and helpful about everything from providing maps, bus and sightseeing advice, changing my duvet to a lighter one- literally within minutes of asking, lending me an umbrella, an adapter, holding my daughter's over large bags till she could pick them up...nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast is justifiably famous, and there is a well provisioned tea tray in the room as well. Arrandale is conveniently located for the UEA and is not far from the city centre, for which there are frequent buses. I shall hope to stay with them again, and soon!

I love visiting Norwich and Arrandale Lodge makes it a lot easier because my partner is happy to make the 400 mile round trip just to stay there.
The rooms are wonderfully comfortable, the hosts' welcome is genuinely warm and their attention to detail is evident throughout.
My only reservation in recommending it is that it's already popular enough, it might make it harder to get a room in future!

Maurice and Olga were the perfect hosts and their place is beautiful. The best place we stayed in our 3 weeks in Ireland and the UK. Large and spacious rooms, great beds and wonderful food. I would highly recommend this place.

Stayed two nights whilst at an UEA open day.Arrandale Lodge was a real treat, our room(Irish themed) was extremely spacious, spotlessly clean with lots of thoughtful extras. The same applied to the ensuite which unlike many b&b's had room to swing a very large cat(lion perhaps?).Breakfast was great with a wide variety to suit all.Of particular note was the black pud and the porridge with caramel bananas -scrumptious.Maurice and Olga are very skilled hosts ( thank you both)and their guests want for nothing.I am very much looking forward to a further stay next time I am in Norwich

Although the booking form advised the room we wanted for our short stay was small, we felt this wasn't the case. It had a spacious en suite as well, with extra touches like a flannel and plenty of towels. Everywhere was very clean, with homely furnishings and decor, and some helpful arrangements were in place for those who may prefer not to eat out in the evening. Homemade marmalade at breakfast (among many other offerings!)! We were staying because we were taking our daughter back to uni and the owners very kindly went to great lengths to assist us with a problem relating to our daughter's return. Thank you both for all your help and a very comfortable stay!
