The staff were friendly, check in and out was straight forward. The breakfast room is small so if it is busy there may be a wait for a table. The room was clean but small and had the narrowest bed I have ever seen in an hotel. The shower was a bit temperimental and went from freezing cold to scalding hot with very little in between . The bar is large and there are TV screens everywhere showing sky sports so can be noisy if there is a big match on . The restaurant is a Hungry Horse and the food is good and plentiful

Our stay at this 3* hotel was for 3 nights and on checking in they only had the reservation for one person listed. We had a so called executive room(No,3) on the ground floor, clean but small, the shower was uncontrollable and dangerous. At the setting of 15c it was scolding hot and when trying to adjust the temp it just went ice cold, this was reported to reception. On returning to our room on the next day we were unable to gain access, reception informed us that the key card requires activating everyday. Never experienced this before in any hotel told it was for security reasons, must have something to do with the location. Breakfast was served by one person who also had to attend to the reception when people were checking out, you will need to be patient at breakfast time which also finishes at 09.30am. The wall to the adjoining room No.2 was so thin you could hear the shower being used and talking quite clear, in addition to the noise of people passing in the gangway. The final straw was checking out when my bill was 40 pound more than quotation on the initial on-line reservation with BW, the reception had to copy my document to charge the correct amount as they had no record. There was no courtesy comments from reception when leaving the hotel, so never again !

Room Tip: My tip is find another hotel.

The location looks a bit stark but it is a hotel within a busy pub and was perfect for what I wanted there is pool, darts Sky real ale loads of inexpensive food very nice staff and the room was comfortable handy for the town centre.

I recently spent one night at this hotel for a work trip to Middlesbrough. I was initiallly a little worried when driving in to the sight of a sign reading: 'Kids eat free', but I need'nt have worried as the family-friendly conveyor belt style pub restaurant was on the opposite side of the building, meaning the hotel rooms were nice and quiet. Talking of which, my tastefully decorated room was clean, spacious and well heated.

Having arrived quite late I decided to eat in the adjoining restaurant, which was fairly well priced, but everything tasted of microwaved cardboard! The following morning, breakfast consisted of a buffet continental table and orderable full English. Again the food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.

Overall the plus points: Free parking, staff were cheerful and friendly, large rooms, well heated, clean.

The downside: Staff seemed a little few and far between (but were very pleasant), food was more cheap than cheerful, the 'kids eat free' style restaurant might be a turn off for some.

Overall: If I'm ever in Middlesbrough again I won't hesitate to stay here again.

I stayed here at short notice, and found it very pleasant indeed. Good breakfast, well cooked. The staff were all very friendly, and the room comfortable and clean. I stay in Middlesbrough fairly regularly and it is abysmally served for hotels. This is of a decent quality, but it may not be the best value.

Further from town centre then you might think, though
