Over crowded bar area blocking access to the reserved seats. After much jostling arrived at table squeezed in corner and had to be pretty athletic to get in along the back wall - not good for the more elderly in the party.
You had to be a contorionist to see the limited specials board and the menu was uninspired typical pub fayre without any imagination or clever twists! The bar maid/waitress seemed totally unintrested in serving us and the wait between starters and mains was unaceptable. Good job we all had plenty to talk about! I think she gave up after the mains as we had to seek her out and ask for a desert menu and on asking for the bill it transpired she had forgotten to put any drinks on it, which when pointed out very pleasantly was greeted with a scowl as if to say now you are giving me more work! They really did not deserve such honesty and at the very least we deserved a smile or nod of appreciation!!!
The ample food when it finally arrived was acceptable but again seemed to work on the principle of quantity over quality.
Having said all this the evening was a real sucess but that was down to the excellent company rather than the venue! WIll not be rushing back!
