“Hugely overrated”

Creams Cafe Middlesbrough
Ranked #4 of 8 Dessert in Middlesbrough
Restaurant details
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Had heard excellent reviews. Place was dark and dirty. Booth has chairs with massive rips on seat. Ordered at the bar and service was quick. However one dessert didn’t arrive meaning that the rest went cold whilst waiting. Staff look bored and did not engage at all. In fact the one serving looked so depressed I felt concerned for her.

I love the waffles, crepes and ice-cream here but really don't like the place itself.

You have to wait to be seated even though it's usual half empty and then you order at the till, what's that all about?

The place is dark and cold, on our last visit it was a lovely day but it was so cold and dark inside we went elsewhere.

I've wrote good reviews re this place but it's not my choice on a nice summers day and with better choice and cheaper prices elsewhere they might struggle if nothing changes.

The waffles are amazing, lots of choice of toppings starting at £5.95 each and they are massive, like the size of a small pizza.
We had strawberry with chocolate and banana with toffee and chocolate, both served with soft whipped vanilla ice cream.

I also had a large Cappacino which was £3.50.

When you go in you have to wait to be seated and they seem to take you to set seats, I wanted a booth but away from the door which they reluctantly agreed to.

Treat for grandson age 9 who had been before and wanted to go again. Personally I thought it was quite expensive for afternoon ice cream for three of us with tea and coffee bill came to over £30.
Decor seemed to be verging on something you would have seen in a nightclub years ago.
Service was good ,

First time ever in Creams and the food was delicious! All the food is well priced and all quite large and very filling. Would highly recommend Creams if you like your desserts.

None of the TVs built into the booths seemed to work and look like a bit of DIY was needed to fill in the gaps between the TVs and the frames. Staff were friendly and the restaurant was quite clean. Overall everyone enjoyed the food.
