Beware!!!
A well organized and clean facility --- but ZERO customer service!!!!
No vacation is complete without its share of hiccups. However every hotel / furnished apt I have stayed with my family while on vacation, the management of the lodgings ALWAYS went out of the way to right anything that was slightly wronged if the property we stayed at caused the inconvenience....but not at the Shaw House!
With a burst kitchen mixer spewing -- at full force -- hot water for a good 10 mins early hours of the morning, followed by the next day a water leak in the ceiling of the master bedroom above our bed and the kitchen stove not working, the problems were enough to put a damper on any vacation ....any empathy or compensation from Shaw House for this.... NONE! Except after i suggested to the House Manager they credit the two days of inconvenience caused (he responded determinedly " it's not gonna happen; Management will not credit anything back"), he nonchalantly dug 2 crumpled £50 notes out of his pocket and casually offered them to me ---perhaps as a way to pay for any inconvenience caused!!! With a look of disgust I rejected his insulting offer and he was quick to shove it back into his pocket.
What an insult! Charity??! Sorry, but breakfast alone for a family of 7 in Mayfair costs more than £150!!! Not to mention the 4 meals that had to be paid for, groceries lost and the hassle of it all!! Paying over £1,000 a night at the Park Lane Apts for a 3 bedroom apt, the least one could expect is professionalism and to right what was wronged -- compensation for the two days of lost use of the facilities of the apt. Why else would anyone pay over £1,000/ night to stay in an apt while they could pay the same for a 5 star London hotel....THE CONVENIENCE OF IT...nothing else!!!!
The disasters that occurred were clearly the RESPONSIBILITY of the owners of Park Lane Apts and no one else... to care for their guests' safety (which they promptly did by turning off the power to the apartment for the day while cleaning and rectifying the burst kitchen mixer problem) and any REASONABLE financial grievances suffered by the guest who had PAID THEM IN FULL ON THE DAY OF ARRIVAL FOR A 2 WEEK STAY !!!!
Bottomline, AVOID the Park Lane Apts at all cost --- amazing location, but God help you if you face any inconveniences during your stay because of the Apts !!!!
