You can forget yourself here, forget you are in London, forget your worries.

Good wine, ok price, mix of age groups and a good heady atmosphere.

Wow

“Amazing bar in London. Should be a must do!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2014 via mobile

My friend Sarah who runs a old on food tour,Soho International Food Tour, recommended we meet here. It's the last stop on her food tour and I can see why. The location and bar is rich in history of old time London. There is a large outdoor beer garden in nice days but the bar itself is ancient and you walk down stairs to a rock cave. There are many great wine choices and they have a fabulous tapas bar for nibbles. Like a buffet you select what you want. Sarah introduced me to the manager, Gerard, a fabulous French man who is an institution on his own, but has worked there for more than a decade. There isn't a place like it and I insist if you like something fun, different, like bars and like a drink you go!

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2014

A little off the beaten track and a bar you could walk past 1000 times and never really click as to what is inside. Such fantastic cellar bar and you feel like you have gone back to Victorian times when you get a table in the cellar. Not much of a Port man but thought i would give a 20 year old port a try and fell in love. The gentleman behind the bar really knows his stuff.

If you visit London then this bar really needs to e on your list of places to visit. For the wine, food and atmospherics.

“Fantastic location, great selection of wine and port. Cheese platters are a great addition to any visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2014

I've been to Gordon's several times since I was introduced to it by friends a few years ago. Since then everyone I've taken there has loved it.

The ambience is great, reminiscent of a Dickens novel the bar itself is underground, with tables in the archways and the clatter of trains going overhead. Everything is candlelit and very atmospheric.

The staff are speedy and knowledgeable. There is a great selection of wine and port and even food- to call the platters ploughmans would be to undersell them.

A great place to enjoy drinks and gossip with friends.

Ideal location just next to Charing Cross and an ideal stopping port from Soho/Covent Garden to Waterloo.

There is also an extensive outdoor seating area although you often struggle to find a seat as its very popular on sunny days and warm evenings.

“ONLY WINE”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2014

Great atmosphere on a summers day but can get very busy (which is Ok people come and go so a table soon becomes available). Good little anti pasti snack bar. Oldest wine cellar in london and a good vibe to the place.
