Absolutely fantastic. We celebrated my birthday there and it was very special. The food was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. Here everyone sits side by side, you may have to share table with strangers if necessary.

Okay, so the format is not complex, but it does it so well.

Find a spare Sunday; go and pick up some friends (or just a newspaper); head to Gordon's and pick up some port/madeira/wine and then some cheese and bread. Sit, eat, drink and enjoy!

Buy your bottle of wine, with great help from the barman. Take it to the cheese counter and the gentleman there will want to know what you're drinking so that he can pick some cheeses for you. Find a seat and ENJOY. It's so simple and it's how it's been done for more than a century. Why? Because it works! I must say the wine was great but the cheeses were the highlight. Fantastic!!!

Lovely place for wine and cheese lovers. A limited meal selection, but hey you go there for the wine and the ambiance! Lunch times and post 5 tends to gets very busy, so one may have to trickle out and sit at the outdoor facilities... Though winters are a tad difficult with the weather...
The choice of wine is fantastic and its supposed to be the oldest wine bar in London.. All in all I would highly recommend this dingy old lost in time bar for sure.... And no loud music... Actually no music at all... One of my favourites in London.

Amazing wine bar establishment especially when the weather is good and people can sit/stand outside (otherwise the place is too tiny to fit so many fans). Superb variety of wine and cheese options and super fast service. Location couldn't be better, central right by the tube station of Embankment and Charing Cross. Try visit after work or after shopping. Always busy but cool and relaxing at all times. People love it and people always know better.
