“Ok, but hotter than the sun....”
Reviewed July 26, 2010

Paid £90, great last minute deal via late rooms.com. Staff quite pleasant. No fuss.
Room as just that with kitchenette in the corner. one chair and a fan.....
Bathroom tiny with cracked possibly sharp tiles on the floor and water pressure really not very good at all.
NO AIR CONDITIONING..... according to temp read out on my alarm clock got up to 37.7 degrees celcius......
Put it this way, with the heat and swathes of drunk spanish school children on the street. Sleep was not forthcoming...

The location is very close to the underground (the Tube). The neighborhood consists of mostly hotels, and there are friendly visitors in the street at most times. In the apartment we had a double bed and a single bed a kitchen (fridge, stove and microwave) and a modern bathroom. We saved money on the rate, and on the cost of breakfast and dinner! The room is clean, and the building is secure, the staff was co-operative. If you don't need luxury (room service and spa) this is a great basic place to stay at a bargain price.

Stayed at this hotel 2 separate nights within 2 weeks but still experienced disappointment,

CONS
-Room itself with little privacy and security. Basement and ground floor accomodations with windows that open into common areas. There are no window guards, so if you are in the basement, someone could literally climb into your room from the courtyard with your window open.
-Noisy rooms: rooms are located along mazelike hallway with banging hallway doors and conversations that carry across common courtyard.
-Front desk service friendly but slow, we frequently had to wait in line
-One elevator for 5 floors including basement was slow.
-Double room provided only with only one bath towel. When requested additional bath towel, manager provided 4 bath towels.
-No A/C, but fan provided.

PROS
-Security badge needed to get into front entrance
-Location near Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens excellent to jog through
-Location near two Tube stations on different lines, walking distance to Paddington station
-Location near lots of eateries and shopping including small mall
-Competitive price

I will start with the positive, good location close to 2 tube lines. Now thats done lets get to everthing else. Room was so so hot, no air con and only a tiny sash window and a little fan. There is a hostel next door so having the window open when trying to sleep isnt really an option. We are from australia and used to the heat but the room was like a sauna that you sleep in. The room was tiny as you expect in london but the bed was in the cornor of the room which ment one person had to climb over the top of the other to get in and out. The sheets on the bed were so thin they were completely see through to the dubiously stained matress beneath. We broke out our sleeping sheets to be safe. We hade prepaid the accomadtion for 2 nights. When we checked in they put a 500 pound charge on a credit card as secuirty(more than the cost of the room).
DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE STAY SOME WHERE ELSE

We read the reviews on this (sometimes) 3-4 star rated hotel and thought we would risk the negative comments about the lack of air conditioning because of it's proximity to Hyde Park. What a mistake. The hotel in this case was very clearly an afterthought....we walked in and immediately were presented with a tiny welcome desk covered in resident's mail (people LIVE there) and signs on the wall explaining how you have to leave deposits to have the privelage to use a hairdryer. It didn't bode well. They also insisted on a $500 deposit on the credit card....we stayed in a REAL four star hotel in Inverness the week before and nothing of the sort was required.

We were given two keys and an entry code for the front door on slips of paper, then took the elevator down to the basement where it was stifling hot the moment we walked out of the elevator. We made our way through the dark dingy hallways to our room....which was laughable. Or would have been if we didn't have to sleep there. The bed was hard...and small. And practically IN the kitchen area. There was a cheap Ikea wardrobe and no drawers....and a small countertop ironing board with no iron. The bathroom was probably the nicest part of the whole thing and you couldn't stay in it for longer than 5 minutes at a time because it was so hot. We looked out the window and were presented with our neighbors cooking about 7 feet away. ZERO privacy. We ended up deciding to stay in London for a couple more nights and checked into a Premiere Inn...which was about a thousand times better value for the money. Even their cheapest rooms would put this place to shame.

I would recommend you stay far far away from this 'hotel'.

I'll be quick:

- arrived and had to wait half an hour for someone to even come to reception to serve us.

- when finally arrived we had to wait 45 minutes for room (at 4pm!!!)

- 1st room was on 4th floor with no air-con in 30 degree heat, no fan, cramped, on street with a hostel next door with revellers keeping us awake until 4am with noise trying to sleep in a tiny uncomfortable bed, no mattress protectors, just a plain sheet, very unhygenic

- 2nd room, slightly bigger, at back so not noisy, fridge was broken so all our food spoiled, blind was broken so light kept us awake, same crap bed with no mattress protector, but we did get a fan this time.

- laundry said it opened at 8am each day, no such luck on the one day we wanted to do our laundry, it was finally opened at 9.30am.

- Family joined us at the hotel, sister left after one night to go somewhere else, mum decided to stick it out with us as it was all pre-paid.

- Finally left after a hellish 5 night stay, had some left over wine, beer, cereal, amenities, etc which we asked housekeeping to leave in my mum's room which she never received.

All in all, if you stay here after reading this then you are completely mad.

Booked in February got put in basement where it was so hot no air con. Had to have a window open which opened onto a small courtyard and everyone used it to get from one part of building to another and everyones voices carried so loud and the fire doors banged shut continuously. Room was very small. Bed was lumpy with cheap mattress wedged against wall. We have stayed in some really nice hotels and we have stayed in some not so nice but this tops the lot. Def never going there again, def not executive at all more like YMCA but dearer. Just wanted to go home.
