Arrived on the 27th Dec, paid £20 for a cab, however the tubes will not only get you there sooner but cheaper, it is £7.30 for a day ticket. Take underground at Euston to Oxford Circus, then change lines to central approx four stops Red Line to Queensway. Will take you about 15 minutes.
Arrived at Hotel and yes the staff where helpful and polite, the room 24 is behind the lifts on the ground floor, Whole apartment very small but adequate for your needs, tv,kettle, fridge, microwave etc, all help make your stay a little easier. Bathroom modern but the shower tiny.
The problem we had was the bed, Omg, when you use the word Executive you assume you are going to get a great nights sleep in room that has more than the basic run of the mill furniture.
I honestly did not sleep a wink, and seriously contemplated sleeping on the floor.
The mattress was flat and you could not only feel every spring but you had to turn up the tv because of the noise it made every time you sat on it.
Saw a homeless guy with a filthy quilt over his shoulder, could not help thinking that it looked so much more comfortable than the bed I was to sleep in, was thinking of making him an offer for it.
Another issue is that you can here the tubes running past or under the room lol, you do get used to it but once it's in your head you tend to listen out for them.
Had a chat with the girl at reception who was sympathetic with regard to the bed issue, and asked if I would like to move rooms, which we agreed, she gave us a key on the fourth floor which overlooked the front of the building. The room was exactly the same as the first but with a far better bed, result you would think!!!! Wrong, the issue here was that the old sach windows let in every bit of noise, even though we where so far up you could hear conversations of passers by, traffic, etc, needles to say that I did not sleep well again and woke up at some point during every hour.
The apartments are situated in an ideal location, and you are only a stones throw away from any destination, which was great, the rooms where clean and tidy. And can not fault the staff.
However For me not much point in returning to these apartments, I am not a person who sleeps for 8 hours a night as it is, but would like at least five or six hours, I came home knackered.
The room cost us £98 per night, surely they can invest in beds that will give you a good nights sleep. As for the Sach windows well again I realise that you can't go around ripping them out on listed buildings, but what about interior sound double glazing that can be fitted to the inside of the window?
We don't go away to spend our time in a room, and believe me we only used the room to get our heads down, but what's the point if you can't sleep due to things that can easily be rectified.
Would recommend these apartments to anyone if you are ok with little sleep, and enjoy paying almost £100 per night for the privilege.
