We have been visiting the North China for many years, and we have never had a bad meal or bad service.

The food on this occasion was as good as usual, as was the service, despite the restaurant being full - there was a party in the upstairs room too. The staff had to turn people away who had not booked - the sign of a good restaurant I think.

As others have said, it is a family run restaurant, and the owner, Laurence, is usually working in the restaurant too - greeting all the customers - old and new. He never seems to forget those who have been before, even if they haven't visited for a while!

We generally choose from the Set Menus, which are good value for money - we quite often end up with a 'doggy bag' to take home as we cannot manage it all. The barbecue spare ribs are the tenderest I have ever eaten and the stir-fried prawns with vegetables were so succulent and huge.

Some of the negative comments have concerned the lack of cocktails (no longer shown on the website) - not a problem for us, we go for the food, not the drinks, and the 'take away' service. We have tried the 'take away' on a couple of occasions, and we have found the food be quite as good as the restaurant, but this is because the food is not served straight away! It has to be transported to your home, either by yourself or the delivery man, and some of the dishes do not 'travel' as well as others. Much better to eat in the restaurant, or choose another Chinese 'take away' that do the more 'travel friendly' items.

We will return as it is one of our favourite restaurants and all the family like it!

One note of warning - it is advisable to book, especially on a Saturday night, as they are generally full!

Having lived in Asia for years it was a real suprise to have such authentic Chinese food it was delicious and the restaurant was packed. A real find and thanks to Tad the owner of the Acton Hill hotel for recommending it

I am lucky to have enjoyed some of the finest cuisine across the globe, and was staggered to find somewhere so good, so close to home. 2nd generation proprietor Laurence and his team provide a superb menu, with a small but excellent choice of dim sum amongst the starters, and MSG free food of the very highest standard. The garlic french beans are unbeatable, and a most satisfactory wine list. My Chinese colleagues and clients were equallly impressed, it is much better than anything I've had in Soho's Chinatown. The North China never disappoints.

Having visited North China restaurant twice for dinner and lunch, I was impressed by the quality of food and the attentive service of this place.

It is cosy inside and fairly unassuming in terms of decor, with additional seating upstairs. However, it is the food that does the talking here.

Surprisingly for a Chinese restaurant the menu is restrained, fitting on 3 pages instead of 13 as often seen in other places. The food is delicious and imaginative. Particularly telling signs of good quality were hand made pancakes served along side the crispy duck (instead of the rubbery, out of the packet sort so often served up), hand made noodles and wide variety of fish and seafood dishes.

The service is very polite and pleasant and although the prices are slightely higher than your run of the mill Chinese restaurant, they certainly justify the quality of the dishes served.

As a testament to its good reputation, we noticed that the place was very busy on Friday night and people were waiting outside for tables to free up. It is a wonderful little gem tucked away in Acton that is definitely on the favourites list now.

This restaurant is a well-established restaurant and we have been going there for over 33 years sadly though we left London 13 years ago and visit any time we are back in London. . Over that time the quality has not changed. This for us is the best Chinese in West London and as good as many of the best in Central London. Staff are attentive. It is obvious that 90% of the customers are regulars and our meal was justification for this.
We ate the Menu A which is our favourite and included Shredded chicken in chilli sauce and Seaweed followed by Prawns on toast with sesame seeds on of the best we have ever tasted and BBQ’d pork spare ribs followed by Peking crisp aromatic duck again this dish was excellent and one of their best dishes. For main we had Lamb slices and spring onions, Stir fried prawns and vegetables, Sea-spiced chicken, Shredded Beef in Chilli and special fried rice. For dessert the classic toffee apple and banana. Because there were 6 of us we were able to order the extra beef dish. All the main courses were excellent and the Shredded beef one of the best we have ever had. If any of the readers are familiar with the old Poons Chinese Restaurant in Leicester St. – exactly the same flavour and quality as Poons. All the main courses were excellent – delicate and unique. This restaurant is well run by Lawrence and standards have never slipped – for us this is definitely the best Chinese in West London and certainly our favourite and a must visit every time we are back in London.
