“The best Chinese restaurant for miles around”
Reviewed April 9, 2011

This is our local and by far the best Chinese Restaurant in West London. What is more Laurence greets regulars - of whom there are loads - like old friends. And it's a lovely cosmopolitan place too; today three big tables laid up when we arrived for a quick meal in the early evening, by the time we left there were Chinese grandparents entertaining all their descendents at one, mostly sari-ed Asians at the second and English rolling up to the third.
The set meals - especially C - are very good value, the Peking duck delicious and the chicken and cashewnuts a real favourite. toffee apples and bananas to finish also just right.
A vast proportion of the customers seem to be regular returners and we see people we know almost every visit. Acton may not be fashionable but it has the odd gem and this is one of them.

“Consistently outstanding Peking cuisine over the last 30 years”
Reviewed March 5, 2011

I started using this restaurant in 1980 when it was my local Chinese, and still return today. Over an eleven year period, I regularly hosted training course meals for recruitment consultants here, and estimate over 1000 people enjoyed themselves in this way (the quality of the food was even mentioned by some in exit interviews many years later!).
Run by Lawrence Lou, this has always been an incredibly popular family owned business. People travel from all over to dine here, and having spent significant time in China and Hong Kong last year I can safely say that whilst I had some brilliant food from a number of regions, this restaurant still wins hands down!
I returned last night for an early birthday celebration, with my wife and four friends and had a superb meal. Of particular note as usual were the Spare Ribs (served dry and unique in flavour), Shredded Beef with Chilli (lightly battered with melt in your mouth beef, unlike the strings of batter with little sign of meat you get when you order this dish in most other Chinese restaurants) and the grilled sole with garlic. The pancakes for the Peking Duck are home made, and the Lemon Chicken really light in texture

In detail we had:
Hot and Sour Soup
Spare Ribs and Prawn Toasts
Half Peking Duck
Shredded Beef with Chilli
Grilled sole with Garlic
Quick Fried Prawns
Sizzling Lamb
Lemon Chicken
Egg Fried Rice
Apple and Banana Fritters

The wine list is well chosen and reasonably priced. The restaurant has two floors, both were packed last night so booking is strongly advised. Service is professional, quick and warm, a lovely evening once again.
