It was a roasting hot day in London and the terrace.was an ideal to celebrate a special occasion as this was.

I thought I'd booked a table on the Kensington Roof Garden by email, so it was a slightly disappointed to discover it was booked for a private party and we were in The Babylon, which is on the next floor up. I'm not sure if this was a genuine misunderstanding - or whether there had been some slight of hand.

Sat on the terrace with mature trees growing out of the ground, it's easy to forget that you're on what - the 6th floor. What looks as though were formal flower beds, have been allowed to do what comes naturally, and the effect is pleasing on the eye.

There were no outside tables when we arrived, but we were in no hurry and after a couple of leisurely bellinis in the sunshione, one became availble.

The food is OK, not fantastic given the price. The rocket in the salad was tough and stringy, but otherwise all the dishes per perfectly acceptable.

The bill came to over £160, but most of that was booze.

We ate here on a Saturday evening in July after booking in April.
Entered via Derry Street and then straight up to the 7th floor.
First thing you notice as you enter the restaurant is the amazing panoramic view of the London skyline.
Food in the restaurant was exceptional. Great tasting and cooked to perfection. Service however I cannot say was very good. The staff were friendly enough but extremely slow. Half an hour just to take our drinks order. Then another 1hr 15 Minutes for the mains to be served. The waitress did make me laugh though. I asked her how big the steak was. She replied, about this big, holding her hand in a small circle. Funny.
That aside, this is a very nice restaurant with lots to offer and well worth a visit. Even when you finish your meal you can pay £10 to get in the exclusive night club below. Even has its own roof garden which is just breathtaking. Cant believe your in the middle of London. Quite literally one of the nicest clubs Ive been too. Not full of Only Way Is Essex but more Made in Chelsea. No yobs here. So for a good night out. Try this place, just leave your fake tan, long eyelashes and greased hair at home.

Had a long drive back to London from Wales and wanted to unwind over dinner. The restaurant has a roaming jazz band on Tuesday nights and the music was a perfect accompaniment to dinner. The service was excellent but a little disappointed by the views. The brochure showed a panoramic view but the trees were quite overgrown and there was limited space on the (smokey) terrace. Food was consistent with modern European cuisine.

Designers have produced a new plate :it's really big , with a cavity the size of a saucer in the middle. Here your food will be served at the Babylon, a posh, snob, full of beautiful people and terrible food.My fish was the size of the palm of my hand, with skin that once removed, left one teaspoon of flesh. Three medium sized shrimps that tasted like cardboard and some vegetables, completed the plate. My daughter and grand daughter ordered vegetable risotto, which was better seazoned , but wouln't satisfy a six months baby.Add one bottle of water and one glass of white wine and the check will be 112 pounds. To add some disgrace, my prepaid visa card was refused , on the grounds that there was no signature. It is a pin number card, and it had been accepted everywhere in London and Paris. The refusal was not done discreetely, but with great alarm, and frankly , I couldn't care less. I showed my passport and 5 other cards , and said I wouldn't pay with any other card, and that was what I did.
. It's a real big wonder why people go to a trap like this one. They are fooled by the site, probably, which in no way corresponds to the actual restaurant.

I appreciate you taking the time to feedback on your experience, although I was very disappointed to have read that we fell short in so many areas during your visit to Babylon. I can see that your experience was not what you’d hoped for and it’s certainly not what we strive for so I’m very sorry that you weren’t shown the friendly & professional customer service we normally pride ourselves on.

I’d really like the opportunity to discuss this matter with you further and would be grateful if you could kindly advise a way of getting in touch directly by emailing me at the address below & advise when would be a convenient time to contact you to chat.

Kind regards
Sam Wilson

Went to the Aston Martin Centenary event in nearby Kensington Gardens with a friend then went here for a late Sunday Lunch. Superb food and very good value, we had two courses each plus a couple of glasses of wine and Lattes with change from £100. I had the Charcuterie which was very good followed by a superb Sea Bream. The view is quite good as well. All in all a very good day saw 100s of aston Martins and had a great meal. 83%
