It was a roasting hot day in London and the terrace.was an ideal to celebrate a special occasion as this was.
I thought I'd booked a table on the Kensington Roof Garden by email, so it was a slightly disappointed to discover it was booked for a private party and we were in The Babylon, which is on the next floor up. I'm not sure if this was a genuine misunderstanding - or whether there had been some slight of hand.
Sat on the terrace with mature trees growing out of the ground, it's easy to forget that you're on what - the 6th floor. What looks as though were formal flower beds, have been allowed to do what comes naturally, and the effect is pleasing on the eye.
There were no outside tables when we arrived, but we were in no hurry and after a couple of leisurely bellinis in the sunshione, one became availble.
The food is OK, not fantastic given the price. The rocket in the salad was tough and stringy, but otherwise all the dishes per perfectly acceptable.
The bill came to over £160, but most of that was booze.
