“Change of management has ruined this place”
Reviewed January 9, 2011

The Lock changed management and became Cornelius at the end of December 2010 and now describes itself as an Italian/European pizza & pasta place.
If you enjoyed the Lock and Mosaica before it, don't expect the same. We did and have enjoyed meals in both over the last few years.
Gone are the inventive dishes and changing menus, replaced instead with substandard pseudo Italian fare and other bits and bobs .... which when they arrive are mediocre at best.
The waiting staff are genuinely nice and eager to please, we left as quickly as we could... pathetically too polite to tell them what we really thought. Wines are cheap ...... and taste like it.
...... and call me a pedant but I've never seen an English menu in a restaurant in England with as many typos.
We won't be going back unless it changes hands again.

“One of the best restaurants in London”
Reviewed November 24, 2010

The Lock is one of the best restaurants in London.

Don't be put off by its location - yes it's in Tottenham Hale (where?) and yes it's in an industrial estate.

However, everything about the restaurant is fantastic.

The waiters are very warm, funny and accomodating. I took my wife when she was feeling down after work and they managed to cheer her up and make her laugh.

The Lock only uses locally sourced food and it tastes better than a few Michelin starred restaurants that I know in London. The freshly baked bread with the combination of Italian olive oils that they serve is lovely.

The meat and fish dishes are superb. I had the pollock the last time I went and it was cooked just right.

Always make space for desserts as they are great. The upside down tarte tatin is a favourite of mine and the chocolate fondant and bread and butter puddings are favourites of my wife.

If you haven't experienced the Lock, please do. It's a little gem in North London.

Excellent venue for a superb dinner. Waiting staff just right, not hassling. Starters were beutifully presented and very tasty. Main course best pork ever tasted. Wine list good and not heavily marked up. No comment on dessert as we didn't have any room left! Don't be put off by the exterior building or location... This is a real gem in tottenham/walthamstow.

“an unexpected find in this part of town”
Reviewed June 11, 2009

A good restaurant in East London. I went based on recommendation and wasn't disappointed. It's isn't cheap, but the restaurant itself has a great feel.
